Although number one songs dont make signature hits I just want to share this bit of info...Its such a shame that Rihanna has 11 #1 hits with Umbrella and We Found Love being her only truly recognizable hits...And Beyonce has 5 number ones with Crazy In Love, Single Ladies & Irreplaceable being her undoubtedbly recognizable hits...Rihanna's other 9 number ones are the equivalent of Baby Boy and Check On It.
We wont even get into non-number ones.

But Beyonce's 2 main signature hits - Single Ladies and Irreplaceable - are bigger than Rihanna's biggest signature hits in that they transcend the charts. "Put a ring on it" is a widely used and recognized catchphrase. The other day a white woman was leading her daughter out of the elevator and said "to the left, to the left."
RTW, however, is a flop. Plain and simple. She tried to coin another catchphrase with "who run the world? Girls!" and failed. And don't tell me online stans using that phrase makes it a signature, because they also used "and if you don't like it **** you."
