Sucess-wise or Music wise? 
I really love the both of them, but MDNA it's the superior album, have a constant flow and consistency! 
The fault that both underperformed it's fault of the artist itself, Xtina's just cancelled the tour and just made a promo and two. 
And Madge's just focus on the tour...

1. Better sales
2. Better songs
3. Better reviews
4. Better airplay
5. more international
6. Smashing tour coming soon
7. one of the songs won a Golden globe award

The results are very surprising.
"MDNA"'s era is superior. Madonna never needed the album nor its songs to perform well. It's all a launchpad for her tour.
For Christina, though, her ability to tour was dependent on the success of her album and its singles.
Success is weighted differently for the two artists. Madonna's not a banking on the success of her albums and singles. They're just bonuses. They do help promote her tour, though. It's unreasonable to place "MDNA" at the same level of underperformance as "Bionic" when Madonna remains a huge touring force. Her current tour is definitely tied to the "MDNA" era.

IMO some of "Bionic tracks" sound good if you listen to them separately or as an individual track, but if you put them together and listen to the whole album is exhausting and burning out, there's no magic, the album doesn't work, and the dance tunes are really weak, plain and outdated, there are a lot of fillering ballads, and maybe I feel the album this way due to the fact that there are more bad songs than good ones on it.
MDNA is more solid as an album, there's more ballance in the album, and I think this is due to the fact that there are more good tunes than bad ones on it. though it is one of Madonna's worst albums IMO.

Bionic was absloute garbage....MDNA is a really good album actually and I don't even listen her, I like how Madonna can be get with the times and make good club hits..."I'm Addicted" and "Girl Gone Wild" are freakin amazing, Bionic is horrible, I would whether listen to Justin Beaver then that album. I love how MDNA mixs the elements of 80's 90's and now all in one....the songs are masterpieces, "Gang Bang" is soooo sick and the dubstep part and the gun effects are an eargasm. Madonna is truly a gifted artists

Obviously MDNA. Bionic really ****ed up Christina's career, it was surrounded by negativity and she couldn't even tour.
