Katy is a much better performer for sure. And singer in my honest opinion.

There's been doubts cast about both of them writing their songs so I'm not sure on that one.

Katy by far. She broke into the business the old fashioned way with hard work and determination. She writes, plays instruments, and she's a very good performer. Her numerous receipts, personality, household name, fan base, (and natural looks

) is the icing on the cake and cherry on top. Katheryn is Queen

I'd say it's a tie. I enjoy both girls and even though Katy plays instrument, Lana's writing skills are really good

This is why it's impossible to have a civilized discussion on this site, as soon as you present your opinion backed up by clear reasons you get called a "hater" and that you're "sad". I will not admit to Katy being a good songwriter because that is a lie.

I love both but I'll go with Katy... Lana's yet to impress me vocally, can't play instruments, or perform to any extent honestly
She has the upper hand in terms of lyricism but then again Katy's co-written 7 #1 singles so her strength as a pop writer should be acknowleged imo

From what I've seen, the only thing she has on Katy is songwriting.

Katy can play guitar and piano, sing better live(at her best obviously) and perform like she wasn't just resurrected from an 1,000 year slumber and drained of all her life energy.

she may have been born to die(aren't we all, dear) but she certainly wasn't born to perform. At least Katy gets up there and gives it a good bash.

I think Lana. She garnered so much attention for having such a different sound and image.
Her voice is miraculously beautiful. And her lyrics are close to perfection, in my opinion.
Katy is okay, but her lyrics aren't phenomenal and neither is the sound/image she has.
Katy wasn't necessarily a breath of fresh air, but she did have a place on radio for her.
#1 singles don't spell out your talent. Britney has #1s; are we going to say she matches these girls' abilities? Cuz no.

How is that bad songwriting? and dont use the excuse "because its melodramatic, cliche" ********. give me a legitimate excuse. her lyrics are relatable, she has great metaphors. I showed proof of that. What is your LOGICAL, LEGITIMATE REASON as to why katy does not have decent songwriting skills? You are being incredibly biased. Just admit it. You cant find any reasons as to why the lyrics are bad. THERE ARE NONE BECAUSE THE LYRICS ARENT BAD.
