Not only that, but STIUTK has a dance remix by Tiest that is currently in the top ten of iTunes. A pretty good one, might I add.

I'm not saying that dance music doesn't exist anyone, I'm saying I see a subtle shift and what is becoming more popular.

I said it a couple times before and I'll say it again, mainstream music needs some kind of change. There's little no variety at all.

+1. Although radio is kinda the issue. new artists find it hard to break, ie.e the Wanted. They've had adds and have been on US radio since September 2011. Nothing happened till Scooter Braun got them on TV.

Another thing, people only buy what they hear. You give them Adele, and they buy lots of it, same for Gaga etc. Find me a #1 or a great top 10 that wasn't on the top 20 of airplay? NEVAH.

Dance music has been a constant part of UK and European mainstream charts for decades and will always remain so. Which is why I find it odd when Americans have these debates about acts like the Black eyed peas starting pop dance trends(!). Only in America does it seem that dance pop comes in and out of fashion chartwise. Everywhere else uses it forever.

Exactly.
Sigh No More has sold 2.2 million copies to date, and their highest charting single, "The Cave," peaked at #27 on the Hot 100.

We're finally getting some variety but I don't think dance music is done.
afraid to live, and afraid to die; what a way to exist.

That's only in US, the WW charts are being topped by dance tracks. Besides you have to think that some of the pop girls are in hiatus. Maybe some indie artists are gettin' success but how long will it last?

RIHANNA - ADELE

Agreed with them. But I also think one more thing that pushed Alternative music to a wider audience is streaming service like Spotify for example. Radio is not as big as it used to be. People are tired with songs made for radio (3 mins. length, repetitive lyrics, and same-y beats, etc.). Dance music will continue to exist, but Trance will be the genre that defines dance music, no longer Pop/Dance. That's how I see it/

Ive seen it said many times here.
It seems that America gets behind more specific dance trends involving certain producers. Like currently Guetta and Calvin are huge. Plus the Pop girls are using certain producers. Hence it all sounding similar.
But the UK and europe use all kinds of dance music(drum n bass, dubstep etc) so there's more variety. A big club hit will crash mainstream top 10 in europe with ease whereas in America they struggle to make a similar impact and are usually confined to the dance charts. America just doesnt seem to embrace dance music generally like the rest of the world always has.
