I'm really not complaining. Madonna has done it all. what more can we ask of her? I'm pretty sure she's trying to be ahead, but at the same time she wants to gain a new set of fans. I'm sure that went into account with this album, less than she did with hard candy I suppose.

Love Spent and Falling Free are really good indeed.

I'd just ask her to put actual effort into her music if she wants to keep on doing it. I mean, I'm pretty sure she's perfectly aware that songs like GMAYL and GGW sound like bad jokes if compared to everything she has done already.

And I like Hard Candy more, believe it or not. Hard Candy sounded like she actually wanted to make it!

People don't hate the record. They're just disappointed because Madonna isn't pushing boundaries like she used to during the prime-time of her career. It's something they can't comprehend. Madonna has been around for decades and she has clearly moved on. She had her time, and now she is just making fun music for herself and the longtime fans who have supported her throughout the duration of her artistry.

I think that was my biggest issue. It's a fun album, but I get a sense of her not really wanting to make it. Like, the only reason she made it was to fulfill her contractual obligations and tour.

I agree.
It's not that she does not want to make music, but maybe she does not have as much inspiration as she did in her previous eras, besides her relationship with Guy, to make music.

I really like Some Girls, Addicted, and Love Spent.

The rest of it is forgettable. It's a better album than Hard Candy, but that isn't saying much.

MDNA has some great tracks like Gang Bang but you get a few really good tracks and then a bunch of worthless songs.

I think the problem is that Madonna tried to make it too "hip". I would've rather have her pull off another Confessions. I have no idea why this album is called a second Ray of Light.

Yes - and she had just directed a film, too. I remember that she said in an interview that, after the film, she "would have to get her ass back in studio and make an album". It felt like she was tired from the directing process already.
