MTV was actually promoting her ****. And then she fell off the face of the earth.
But dont you dare talk about a movement with that pop star as your avi. Like honestly, thats an insult to the art. I'm pretty sure nicki is the LAST person any of the previously successful rappers would want representing them.

Missy sure as heck endorses Nicki so I'm not sure where you're going with that lol. Oh and Missy herself was once a pop star, as was Kim. As are many other male rappers who are doing it big right now so I also don't know where you're going with that seeing as though, regardless of how many 'Starships' or '808's and Heartbreaks' are made, they can still always revert back to that essence that makes them hip-hop.
Edit: Regardless of where she's at, I still use 'Pro Nails'

Kim was never a pop star...
Missy did pop, but she always rapped. Wouldn't consider her a "pop" star.
And receipts that Missy wants Starships to rejuvenate female hip-hop please???
Edit: Pro Nails, 54321, Get Fresh and Switch Board are all ***** poppin' jams.

They were both def poplar stars at one point, hence the term. That aside, let's not pretend like Kim didn't try catering to what was popular during her time with 'Download.' Oh and Starships isn't rap, why would anyone want that to represent female rap Missy endorses Nicki, not Starships. Just because I endorse Nicki, that doesn't mean I endorse everything she does and, I'd like to assume it's the same with Missy. Songs like Starships aren't even indicative of what she is capable of as an artist. They're disposable and are just an annoying phase she's going through.
P.S. what do you know about Damn Girl or You Ain't Really Down though

No one uses pop star to describe popular female rappers. I mean, no one calls Drake or Jay Z a pop star.
Download is more R&B than actual pop though. And that was after The Naked Truth, which was the last consistent, good thing she's done. Plus it was in 2009, which is after her time.
And funny, its not indicative of what she is capable of as an artist? Then why are her pop jams the only songs that ever chart top 10?
Both kim and missy had top 10 hits with them actually rapping.
Oh and You Ain't Really Down makes me laugh everytime I hear the intro. I dont believe I have Damn Girl though.

Many media outlets including the Washington Post do though...

Look it up
And oh at you coming for her top 10 hits as being indicative of what she's capable of when you of all people should know what she's capable of considering you 'used to be a stan.' No?

Lil' Kim never made a bad album..........Naked Truth was a great rap album also. That's just indicative of what kind of artist she is or was.

I dont agree with calling them pop stars. We dont call Metallica or Frank Sinatra pop stars. Well, maybe the Washington Post do.
But you do realize that when the PUBLIC calls nicki a pop star, it means something a lot different than when YOU call kim and missy pop stars right?
But thats what makes nicki so stupid and such a waste of time. She has plenty of great material but she makes her public image vapid, fake as ****, gimmicky, and tacky. And now its backfiring on her.
Why should the public have to dive into her discography when what she puts on the plate is what she wants the public to eat?
Kim and missy were always rappers. Their single success was very indicative of what their albums consisted of.
Anyways, I think its the way she says babayyyyy. Like the second 'B' sound. I laugh everytime picturing her snapping her fingers to that.

The idea of a 'pop star' was never really around in Frank Sinatra's time so there goes that answer for you, and as for Metallica, they were never really popular. They have more of a cult following if anything.
What I find annoying about her, is she desperately tried catering to two different audiences when the way she went about doing it was unnecessary, and unoriginal.
Regardless of that though, It isn't Nicki's fault that people don't buy into her hip-hop tracks as much as they buy into her pop tracks. She tries giving the public both but more times than not, her pop tracks triumph. Her only exception is M4L.
I always pictured the music video being filmed in a corny neighborhood street and having this 80's vibe to it

Massive attack should of slayed. I dont know what happened with that whole situation, but while super bass was the best thing to happen to nicki, i also think it was the worst thing to happen to her mentality wise. And now that everyone knows her and wants her as a pop artist with fake, half-assed raps, it doesn't help either. But that really isn't their fault as much as Nicki not taking into consideration how she wants to be perceived in contrast to what she is perceiving.
I couldn't picture a vid of it. I would die if it was just the camera zoomed in on her mouth as her lip gloss smacks to those 'B' consonants.
