Which in your opinion is more important for an artist to do? Which is more important for an artist to have, large attendance rates or writing credits? Sound off.

Today artists earn the majority of their money from touring so I would say touring! But songwriting is also important and respectable.

Honestly songwriting.

But touring is a way to show your fans that you want them to see you and have a relationship with them.

Whether touring or songwriting is most important depends on what the artist strive for in the career: Critical acclaim or popular acclaim.

Luckily my faves have both as of now and in a quite large measure.

But I would say touring. If someone is a great vocalist/performer (Whitney), I can easily overlook the fact he/she doesn't have writing credits.

You need good songwriting to craft good songs. The better your songs overall, the more willing people will be to see you live, providing the artist is a decent performer at the same time of course. So, I'd have to say songwriting, because that can lead to success in touring.

Depends what kind of artist you are. For Katy Perry, tours are more important, I think. For Taylor Swift, songwriting. A pop star performs, that's what they need to excel at. A singer-songwriter needs to write songs.
