'Teenage Dream' tops 5.5 million mark in worldwide sales
Capitol Records confirmed that "Teenage Dream" has sold 5.5 million copies worldwide.
Perry had a banner year in 2011, tying Michael Jackson’s record for most No. 1 singles from one album when five tracks from her Capitol Records sophomore release, Teenage Dream, topped the charts. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts in August 2010, achieved double Platinum certification in the U.S. and has sold more than 5.5 million copies worldwide. The album also earned four Grammy nominations in 2011, including Album of the Year, and two in 2012 for the single “Firework.”
