ATRL/Stan Wars demand that you pay close attention to artists' stats:
metacritic, Billboard, iTunes, sales, YouTube views, Forbes, radio play, etc. You can't construct a convincing argument without the facts to back yourself up. However, the average/casual pop music listener tends to either be unaware of these reports, or just doesn't care enough to take the time to inform themselves.

Do you ever find yourself using artist receipts to defend/drag an artist in real life/casual discussion? What kind of reactions do you evoke in others when you use this information that's pretty extraneous?

Most of my friends are into hippie artists.
So the more amazing receipts I bring, the more they'll be hating on my faves.

Sometimes, I use receipts on my bf, but he has no clue about music.
If I tell him 21 sold 20m copies worldwide, he'd be like "wow"
Next day, if I tell him Born To Die sold 1m copies ww, he'd also be like "wow".

Stanning isn't really that serious in real life. Only one or two of my offline friends even care about an artist enough to call themselves a fan. We hardly ever discuss artists, and when we do, it's usually big news (somebody dying, releasing an album, controversy, etc).

None of my friends are really into music to stanning extent in terms of what albums sold what in which market, etc.

Yes I have, to defend Miley from a Demi fan. I was dragging her up and down, but she didn't care or understand anything i was talking about. I stopped after that.
