Now I feel even more good with my iPad 2.
There's basically just geeky new stuff for the new one, and I'm not really interested in how flawless is the "definition".

And there's not going to be an iPhone 5 till Fall.

These resolution updates are the most important thing Apple has done in the past few years, IMO.

I can basically guarantee Steve has had his hand in both this and the iPhone 5(and probably even in next years phone and tablet), so he definitely would have, and did, allow it. These products are not just whipped up in the year between release, they are worked and planned concurrently with others.

The only reason I can see for the iPad not supporting Siri is because most of Siri's actual computing is done in the cloud through servers. iPhones can use siri because phones are basically always connected to the internet. However since the vast majority of iPads sold are wifi only models and often are without a connection, they didn't want to bother with the inconsistences that would arise with the 4G/3G models able to always use Siri and the wifi's to only work some of the time.

But yeah, I agree, I still think the iPad should support full Siri support, not just the dictation, regardless.

Wrong speculation for why Siri isn't on the new iPad. I think it's not on there because Apple hasn't found a purpose for it on a tablet. It'll probably find its way on there next year when it's way more polished and has more uses.

The sensor is waaaaay more important than the megapixels. Pictures probably look great. A front camera update would've been a lot better though.

nooo! verizon isn't letting me upgrade again until april 2, 2013! i upgraded to a 4s in december i am not happy.

I was just talking about this with my friend. I'm debating if I should convert to iPhones since I love all Apple products, but the thing is, if I had an iPhone... They update so often that I would feel the need to update every time. I think Apple is the only phone that makes people feel that way. With other phones, like Blackberries, even after an update, you won't feel mandatory to update to the newer version.

Yeah, the sensor is usually going to have a bigger impact on the viewing quality of the image.

However, if you're printing large pictures, megapixels are good too. Just as a point of reference, a 5.1 Megapixel camera basically means that the pictures it takes consist of 5.1 million pixels. A high-definition display (1080p) has just over 2 million pixels, so when you display camera pictures on a high-definition device, you aren't actually seeing them to scale. But when you print out images, it's helpful to have the pixels available because printed pictures have a pretty high desired pixel density or "DPI" in the sense of print.

On a separate note, Steve Jobs supposedly left like 4+ years of plans for all of Apple's flagship products, so he definitely had this iteration planned out.

... I have never had a smart phone before. I really want an iPhone but I bought an iTouch recently and I feel like if i do get an iPhone then that would've been a waste of money.
