Well, I'm just going to spill the beans ahead of time: M83 is no longer #1. "Midnight City" was the longest-reigning #1 in the Red 40's short history, but there comes a time for even the strongest #1s to fall to the wayside and allow new competitors to take the spotlight. But who, exactly, took #1 from M83? Did Coldplay make a natural progression to the top spot? Did Gotye or AWOLNATION finally make the big move? Next Week Preview

Well, it took seven weeks, but we finally have a new #1. Climbing from just inside the top five was Childish Gambino, who has stolen my music-loving heart over the last month (and my television-loving heart long before that). Of course, the toughest part of getting to #1 is holding on to #1 after the fact, and Childish Gambino faces a stiff challenge from Coldplay, whose "Charlie Brown" has now been kept out of the top spot for two weeks. Can CG hold off Coldplay, or will Mr. Gambino's "Heartbeat" cease to exist? Oh, and keep an eye out on Korn next week. They...tend to have a history of making HUGE second-week jumps.

So, really, the "Fall of the Midnight City" may have actually also been the "(Temporary) Fall of the Red 40", as we went over a month without an update. But there is a good reason for this: I have been battling sickness and anxiety issues for over a month now. I've only really had time to judge ATRL's Next Top Member and moderate. It's been brutal.
