Is it only me or is everyone feeling some kind of regret for Katy not releasing HH instead of TOTGA? I mean it's a #1 potential and I'm sure it would've went straight to #1. Then she would have 6 #1 singles from TD and finally beat MJ's record. Then upon Part Of Me debuting at #1, she could've already tied Whitney's record of 7 consecutive #1 singles!!! And hearing that Dressin' Up would be most probably the next single, it won't be really impossible for her to break Whitney's record too.

Nah, I'm glad the 6th single didn't hit #1. It has removed the pressure on future singles so that they don't HAVE to hit #1. Imagine how much pressure Dressing Up would be under to hit #1 if Katys last 7 singles had hit the top... It'd be even worse than it was for TOTGA.
I also think that The One missing #1 gave Capitol an extra reason to rerelease - breaking Michaels record. Yeah, they had it planned 2 years ago, but that was before the album + singles were a hit. I think they would've happily moved on after TOTGA if it had hit #1.

But she didn't break the record. POM doesn't count for the record. If DU comes out and goes #1 as well, she still can't touch MJ's record.  They are happy to move on either way.
