"Secret" is top ten material. Like, no question, it's one of Madonna's best songs ever. That eliminations sucks.
Poor Cate Blandshit: Played with astonishing sensitivity by the 19-year-old Adèle Exarchopoulos, she gives every appearance, when we first encounter her, of being an ordinary French teenager. And yet, over the course of nearly three hours and what seems like about a half-dozen years, Adèle acquires a depth and grandeur that make her equal to some of the great heroines of literature. For a while, as with Anna Karenina or Elizabeth Bennet or Clarissa Dalloway, her life is also yours, and afterward you may discover that yours has altered as a result of the encounter. --The New York Times
The only redeeming qualities to "Human Nature" are the sinister beat and the hilarious lyric, "Oops! I didn't know we couldn't talk about sex!" It's a great swagger anthem, but not really a great song. Same goes for "Erotica." At least the video for this one was killer though.
These things we do to keep the flame burning
And write our fire in the sky
Another day to see the wheel turning
Another avenue to try

The producer (Benitez) discovered this song, written by a group called Pop Energy, and offered it to Madonna, since it had been already turned down by other artists. They re-produced the song, in order to increase its commercial appeal. It was released as a single and managed to be Madonna's first hit, reaching #16 in the US and #6 in the UK. Later, it was re-released in the UK and it peaked at #2.
Madonna performed "Holiday" in all of her tours, except one - The Confessions Tour. The picture above is from the Blond Ambition performance, which is really worth the watch.
No video was made for it, but later some performances were used as its videos.
This is really classic Madonna. If "Justify My Love" is the definition of sexy, this is the definition of happiness. 9.5 from me.

During the recording of True Blue, Patrick Leonard was writing a theme for some random Paramount film, but ultimately they ended up rejecting it. Then he showed it to Madonna - she decided to use it for Sean's film At Close Range, and wrote the lyrics for it.
It was released as the lead single off True Blue, and it was a success - it was her third US #1, and it peaked at #2 in the UK. It also reached the top 10s of many countries.
She performed it live at The Who's That Girl Tour, The Blond Ambition Tour and The Confessions Tour - in the latter, she performed it hanging on a cross, which caused some controversy over the show.
Its video shows Madonna wearing a more mature look and singing "Live to Tell" in a dark room, while some scenes from At Close Range are shown.
For me, this is Madonna's best ballad. 10.
