I'm so pumped for Smash tonight! It took a while, but I'm officially hooked now. I was a tad bit disappointed after seeing the pilot episode, but especially after the amazing previews and promos (Touch Me!), I'm certainly convinced that this show is better than Glee and most shows this season, aside from OUAT in every aspect.

The Voice was down two-tenths from last week (though note last week it was adjusted up a tenth in the finals) to a still robust 5.8 adults 18-49 rating but still easily was the night's highest rated program with adults 18-49 and more than enough to pace NBC to a win on the night. The news for Smash wasn't good though falling another half a point with adults 18-49 to a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating with 6.47 million total viewers.

This show is taking too many dips too fast. We don't have to be worried just yet, but the show seriously needs to stabilize in the next couple of episodes.

I think it's just an unfortunate timeslot. 3 hours full of singing is just too much. That's why FOX never coupled Glee with American Idol, because as much of a great lead-in it would've been, it's useless for a musical show. With all the promo that was lined-up, I'm even going as far to say that the show would've standed it's own on a 8pm timeslot, maybe with even better ratings. Time will tell if Smash is a keeper for the network, but I hope they follow Steven Spielberg's main concept and create another musical next season. With a couple of new cast additions, new original songs and a faster storytelling.

I agree. People will get bored of Marilyn. Glee was huge for some time, I think what can save SMASH is if it DRAGS all the awards. That hypes up a series a lot, like the GG did with Glee, like the Emmys did with Modern Family, etc, etc.

Yes, I can totally see that given NBC renews Smash for a second season. I don't know, but I just whish the show would've stayed on Showtime...I'm in clinch with NBC ever since the whole Medium incident, which is one of my all-time favorites, it was a really ugly fight between NBC and CBS. On the one hand, I think the network deserves to go down, just for being so overly disrespectful and ignorant to some of their shows, but on the other hand I'm starting to really like this show...
