#33 - CELEBRATION
Average: 8.0833 - Highest: 10 (x4), Lowest: 2 (x1)
Writers: Madonna, Paul Oakenfold, Ian Green, Ciaran Gribbin
Producers: Madonna, Paul Oakenfold
Madonna approached the DJ Paul Oakenfold and asked if he would be interested in sending her some of his stuff for her to later add lyrics - he sent about 15 tracks and she chose two, writing the lyrics and vocal melody for "Celebration" and "Broken (I'm Sorry)".
It was released as the first single off the greatest hits compilation Celebration and it was fairly successful everywhere, except the US. There, it peaked at #71. In the UK, at #3.
She used some of its elements on the backing of "Holiday" (or other song, I'm not really sure) in the 2009 leg of the S&S Tour, but I don't think she ever performed it live.
The video is an atrocity, one of her worst ever, and the only note-worthy things about it are that it features her then boyfriend, Jesus Luz, and her daughter Lourdes dressed as the 1984 her. There's a more watchable version, made with some hardcore Madonna fans, which is indeed quite fun. But she still looks hideous on it.
Say what you want about this song - it's uninventive, nothing special, Madonna by-the-numbers, and everything is true. But damn if it isn't fun. 8.5 from me.

Celebration isn't bad, but it's certainly not as good as 20 or so singles below it.

SOME of them???? I mean, I'd be okay with one of them since not everyone has sound judgment, but more than one of these in the top ten is disgusting.

Not too much on "Don't Tell Me", now - if it was for me, it would be around the Top 5.

#32 - JUMP
Average: 8.2222 - Highest: 10 (x7), Lowest: 1 (WTF? Anyway, x1)
Writers: Madonna, Stuart Price, Joe Henry
Producers: Madonna, Stuart Price
"Jump" is a self-empowerment song, incentivating independence - it basically says "go there and do it for yourself". One curious thing about it is that Joe Henry, Madonna's brother-in-law and also a musician, participates in the writing. There are two more songs that he co-wrote with Madonna: "Don't Tell Me" and "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You". All the three are some of my favorite Madonna songs ever.
It was released as the fourth single off Confessions, and it had decent success worldwide - except the US, again. It didn't even chart on the Hot 100. In the UK, "Jump" peaked at #9.
Madonna performed it live in London at the Koko Club and at G-A-Y, in order to promote the album. She also did an amazing performance of it for the Confessions Tour. Really a must-watch.
The video was shot in Japan, and it features scenes of people practicing Le Parkour around the city and Madonna dancing in a studio full of neon signs, wearing a blonde bob wig. I would've put a picture of it as our graphic, but I couldn't find any that looked actually nice, so I put this one from the Confessions Tour (it's not even the "Jump" performance, but who cares?). In my opinion it's a very sub-par video - a nice idea that should've been much more well-executed.
And there goes my first 10. I love "Jump", it's one of the first Madonna songs I fell in love with. The relentless beat and her tone at the verses are really captivating.

No. That tour performance is one of her best.
I'm glad Get Together outlasted it though.

#31 - RAIN
Average: 8.2222 - Highest: 10 (x9), Lowest: 4 (x1)
Writers: Madonna, Shep Pettibone
Producers: Madonna, Shep Pettibone
"Rain" is a ballad released as the fifth single (fourth, in the US) off Erotica. It peaked at #7 in the UK and #14 in the US.
Madonna performed it live at The Girlie Show , and used it for a video interlude in The Sticky & Sweet Tour.
The video was directed by Mark Romanek, and it features Madonna (wearing a black, short wig) in a filming studio, making it seem like a video is being made inside the video. It was listed as one of Slant's "100 Greatest Music Videos", at #70.
It took me a while to enjoy this song more, but I gave it an 8.5. Now I think I should've rated it lower... maybe an 8?
