Judas really stalled the momentum created by the lead single. TEOG recaptured some of it, but I guarantee that the album would've been a bigger force had TEOG been the 2nd single, ****** video and all.

Her image tbh. She was so boring in this era. Idk but her image was so fresh and amazing in The Fame and The Fame Monster era. I was a fan of her until Born This Way era.She transformed an another person which I really didn't like it.

Born This Way is a good album. Actually it's my fave album by GaGa.

I think there are four main things

1. Too much Hype
This set her up to fail, it provided great sales at the begining but once ppl heard it didn´t live up to expectations, no one cared how good it really was - or gave it a chance really. All they cared about was that it wasn´t as good as ppl hoped.. edit - ok maybe some of the outfits should have been more controlled too lol

2. Too much Gaga power
this does not at all refer to the music produced or even really the outfits and outings, but mainly the music videos. although I personally like some of the MV this era more than last, many ppl just don´t like them specifically because Gaga produced it

3. The Music
Its not at all bad music - in fact for me it is the best album of the decade - many ppl were expecting a bad romance and a poker face album, not some experimentalish women and gay empowering album.

4. The Single Choices
Born this Way did an amazing job - perhaps because of the hype - but she really needed another dance track after that without a controversial topic, meaning probably MTN, followed up by TEOG and then she could take another risk whether that be Judas, Y and i or Shiza and then close up the era with another one of those 3 if the first did well and if not with Hair,

Just the music itself. It took a while to get me interested - nothing is smash-worthy and I've already tired of it. I appreciate that she's writing her own music and doing her own thing, but it's just not my cup of tea.

A proper, simple performance of You and I would've done wonders. I didn't care about the crossdressing, I thought that was rather tame. But her convulsing at the end of that performance...it wasn't pretty.

I felt like TEOG was unfairly subjugated to the huge 1 million selling week, losing all those single sales.
