I always hear about these two albums/eras being one of the biggest flops, so in your opinion, which flopped harder? Neither album went gold (I don't think), neither had a real decent hit, etc. So what's you guys' opinion?

I guess even tho Bionic sold more, it was a bigger flop than Basic Instinct because we expected Ciara to flop, no one thought Christina would flop after the successful "Back to basics" album. Also, "Ride" was a hit on urban radio/r&b/hip-hop chart. It was almost top 40, and the song had longevity. "Gimmie dat" was one of her best videos

Bionic.

Xtina was actually a WW superstar during her prime, unlike the other.

Bionic is on another level of Flop, so yeah, it's pretty obvious which one is the biggest flop.


Lol, I even remember the Deluxe/Fan Edition had a collage with messages from the fans and there was one that called her Floptina

I think we have to look at this in terms of expectations. "Bionic" was expected to be a huge seller. "Basic Instinct" was not.

Because of this, the underperformance of "Basic Instinct" was not really a big deal. Ciara left unscathed because the public never really expected the album to be a large hit.

The public will remember the "Bionic" era as a "flop" and they probably won't put much thought into the "Basic Instinct" era.

Oh my god, the video is so mesmerizing. I still remember seeing it for the first time. I was at a bar and my eyes were absolutely glued to the TV screen.

I'm still baffled by its underperformance.

Basic Instinct was a better album, MUCH better. I actually enjoyed that album more than I expected to.

It did flop, HELLA HARD, but at least it had Ride, which is one of the best Ciara songs ever. Plus it was a hit on Urban radio. I remember when I used to hear it almost every hour. Plus, Gimme Dat was a good ass song, and had the best Ciara video ever.

Bionic didn't do anything, except with that "Not Myself Tonight" which was a MINOR success.

I'd say Bionic, eventhough they both flopped, Christina only really had Not Myself Tonight, atleast Ciara attempted to push by having videos for Basic Instinct(You Got Me), Ride, Speechless, and Gimmie Dat, thats 4 singles

I'd say Bionic. Even though Basic Instank sold 30k it's 1st wk we all knew it was going to flop due to push backs and flop singles after Ride. Plus she already has Fantasy Ride that flopped under her belt so this is not new territory for Super CI. Xtina on the other hand was seen as a Big ww star and had success from B2B. Bionic flopping hurt xtina more than Ci's flopped. And Xtina dedicated that album to her son

I only know about Bionic. I never listened Basic Instict.
