Impressive yes, but back then album sales were much much higher. Adele selling almost 20 million in this day and age where people just don't purchase albums anymore is, imo, way more impressive than selling 30 back then.

We are in 2012. You can't compare sales of 2011-2012 with the sales of 99. The only thing you can compare is the chart runs.

Yes. she is actually giving MJ'S Thriller a competition, 21 selling 21 million copies with only 3 number singles in 2012 how much more if it was 20 or even 10 years ago she would have 50 million sales of album right now! AMAZING

OMG. That is amazing. The album deserves all of it, though. It's just so good. 21 is turning into something truly iconic. Imagine if this were released back in the day when albums were REALLY selling and illegal downloading wasn't possible? And YouTube didn't exist? It probably would already have triple the sales.

Why is it reaching? The best-selling albums these days normally do 6-7m. Adele is so far ahead of the competition it's unfathomable.

That's actually more impressive now that you point it out. All the sales are coming from....... only three singles. Now that's a TRUE album artist.
