We Need to Talk About the 2011 - 2012 Grammys.
It's that time girls. Let's shake the cobwebs off from the dullest Grammys ever and move onto something fresh. The eligibility period is a third way done - what's standing out so far?

Take Care.
Ceremonials.
My Life II...The Journey Continues (Act I).
These are the only albums readily coming to mind that will get any nominations. Hopefully Goldfrapp can score one for electronic for "Melancholy Sky" and Annie can get one for her Body Talk-but-not-really trilogy.

Lana Del Rey- Best New Artist, Best Album. (She will have improved her perfomance skills and blow us away with a performance)
That is my prediction.

This year was NOT DULL. It was much better than last year to me. Great performances and the show wasn't a bore. The awards were predictable but at the same time, they were deserving so the Grammys got it right.
ROTY shortlist:
Take Care
We Are Young
Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)
We Found Love would've been a shoe in if it wasn't for its release date
AOTY shortlist:
Take Care
Ceremonials.. (if it gets a big US hit.. "Never Let Me Go" can do it)
Best Rap/Sung winner: Take Care - Drake & Rihanna. - Its sealed.
I don't see an upset topping them two if it isn't rihanna or drake themselves with their other songs.
Best Pop Duo
We Are Young
Princess of China
Shake It Out
POP Solo
Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)
Part of Me - Katy is on a Grammy nomination streak, this is another"Teenage Dream" for her. She can get in.
A Bruno Mars single

On a serious note, Emeli Sande could smash like Adele did
I also see it for Florence for at least nominations
May the bridges I burn light the way.

Take Care and Ceremonials will both get a nice amount of nominations. Mary J. Blige and both Brandy and Monica (if they ever get their albums out) will be nominated in the R&B categories, as will Chris for Fortune. Talk That Talk may earn a nomination or two, but not as many as Loud did. Roman Reloaded will earn Rap nominations solely because she's Nicki Minaj. Oh, and Lana will be ignored.

Florence & The Machine.
Kelly Clarkson?
Drake.
Is Buble's Christmas album allowed to be nominated?
Whatever are they going to do with Country Album? No Taylor or Lady Antebellum eligible this year...

A question I have - how big will Lana hit? Will she be relegated to just BNA, be completely ignored, or actually make the Big Three?
My predictions, at this point:
Album
Black Keys - El Camino
Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto
Drake - Take Care
Bruce Springsteen -
Record
Rihanna - We Found Love (if resubmitted)/Coldplay featuring Rihanna - Princess of China (if WFL is not resubmitted)
Adele - Set Fire to the Rain (it's still eligible!)
Gotye featuring Kimbra - Somebody I Used to Know
Bruce Springsteen - We Take Care of Our Own
Song
Coldplay - Princess of China
Taylor Swift (and the Civil Wars) - Safe and Sound
Best New Artist
Lana Del Ray
Jessie J (NOW she'll get in)
Sleigh Bells (MGMT/Bon Iver of the year?)

Drake will get several nominations.. Take Care (the album) is a shoe-in for all Rap categories.
Depending on how Take Care as a single does in mainstream radio, it might get ROTY and SOTY nods.

Set Fire To The Rain and Rumour Has It to continue Adele's streak. At least Rumour Has It if SFTTR is out of the eligibility period.
Lana's album recieved mixed reviews it won't be getting an AOTY nomination unless nothing else comes along :| Maybe a Pop Vocal Album for MDNA.

Lana will be lucky to scrape a BNA nod. I highly doubt the Grammy's will acknowledge her.

She'll probably scrape a BNA artist nod and thats all I can see for her. But I wouldn't count on it.
I think they are gonna keep the winners non mainstream for a few more years.
I wouldn't be shocked to see Emeli Sande winning next year or Frank Ocean. Although Frank is no longer underground. He's my favorite to win.

The Black Keys, "El Camino" is a contender for the rock/alternative spot.

The reviews suck. She has no hit (yet). She's not smashing in the U.S. There is no reason to believe that she is a contender for an AOTY slot. BNA, maybe.

Wait she can resubmit We Found Love ?
I didn't know u could do that. If she does and its eligible she has a shot at a nod there. I think if anything they will award her for Best Short Form Music Video.
I can see Talk That Talk getting a Pop Album nod.
Her chances:
POC - Pop Duo
Pop Album
Rap/Sung - 2 entries (TTT, TC)
R&B Performance - Watch N Learn? But she never submits to R&B why doesn't Def Jam try there?

The Hunger Games soundtrack could dominate.
AOTY winner Taylor Swift
AOTY winner Arcade Fire
2-time Grammy winners The Civil Wars, Kid Cudi
1-time Grammy winner Miranda Lambert
2-time Grammy nominee The Decemberists
And Safe & Sound for Best Song for a Soundtrack, maybe even a country/ general field nomination.

Captain, you're a genius.
They're the prohibitive favorites not only for Alternative Album, but for ALBUM OF THE YEAR. Was Lonely Boy nominated in Pop Group this year? If not, pencil them in for a Record nod too. The industry discovered a rock band that can sell in this day and age; they will be rewarded.
