Okay, so the other day I was watching that SNL promo of Lana Del Rey's, when Kenan tells Daniel, "My favorite character was the black one!" and then Daniel asks him, "which one?" and Kenan answers with "Exactly!" (watch the video here )
I haven't realized actually until that day that most of the iconic figures and characters in popular movies / series are white. Even the Super Heroes and the Disney Princesses.
So I've been wondering lately, why? Would Harry Potter still be as successful if Harry was black?
I can see Samuel L Jackson on the Star Wars poster.
Your argument is completely invalid.
EDIT: Sam Jackson is also in Avengers
One of the most important characters in Pirates was black.
Twilight had a prominent black character
Titanic was a period piece, so a lack of black characters makes sense somewhat.
The few doesn't make up for the reality that a MAJORITY of films and tv shows are composed of primarily Caucasian casts. So the argument is not completely invalid. Even films that have one or two black/minority leads, they are not featured prominently on promotional material.
