Katy Perry's parents have always been so strange to me. I feel really sorry for her. I remember when she told Vanity Fair that she "didn’t have a childhood". But regardless I think she loves her parents.
I've also felt that her parents really pushed her towards fame. They wanted her to be a famous within the Christian community. They even let Katy drop out of high school really young and try and pursue gospel music. Most very religious people I know would never allow their children to drop out of high school.
Her family even put her in those crazy kid pageants when she was really little. And her mother said to Vanity Fair:
Quote:
|
‘The Lord told us when I was pregnant with her that she would do this.’
|
Well, their daughter got to be famous but not in the way they wanted.

I think the OP is right to some degree, but only to her music career and image.
As a person, she is an adult. She was married, hard working, mature, but simply still young at heart.
She's not *actually* a 27 year old who acts like a 15 year old.

I don't view her as acting childish this era. Compared to Britney Spears at 27, Christina at 27, etc. she's not doing anything they weren't.
But I do believe Teenage Dream was, as an album, a way for KP to relive (or live out for the first time) her teenage fantasies. Those are the years when you feel the most invincible, and it's always great to remember those times fondly.

1. Exactly 'was',that speaks for itself.
2. She's definitely mature. Her hair colors & outfits reflect her maturity as much as her usual party all night long like here in Rio till 6am.
3. Hard working YES,that's true.

Tbh I don't think she acts that much like a teenager. She's 27 so is still young and your 20's are meant to be enjoyed partying and having fun although her childhood obviously had some implications on her. I do agree that could be part of the concept for TD though which is a flawless album. It's a shame it may have stemmed from a flawed and unfair childhood.

I never saw her as acting like a teenager. Her image this era may be cute and girly but she's definitely a hard working adult. No one made a big deal about Gwen Stefani being 36 and dressing up as Alice or a cheerleader. Katy is rich and young of course she's gonna wanna party and as long as it doesn't affect her craft( which it doesn't) there's nothing wrong with it.

Katy didn't get to watch MTV or share kissing tales behind the school with girlfriends. Michael was abused and mentally ruined. Those comparisons there...
But I don't think it's that serious with her. I think she created the album to cater to the young adult/teenage demographics of music. It possesses nothing that relates to being too controlled as a teenager. It's all about boys and girl stuff. Katy seems like a responsible, mature woman who works extremely hard to be successful. This is definitely a forced conception due to the rude comments on this board.
