Elena Jane "Ellie" Goulding (born 30 December 1986) is an English singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. In 2010, she became the second artist to both top the BBC's annual Sound of... poll and win the Critics' Choice Award at the Brit Awards in the same year. After signing to Polydor Records in 2009, she released her first EP in 2009, An Introduction to Ellie Goulding
Lights is the debut studio album by English recording artist Ellie Goulding, released on 26 February 2010 by Polydor Records.
Goulding collaborated with several producers on the album, including Starsmith, Fraser T Smith, Frankmusik, Richard "Biff" Stannard, Ash Howes, Liam Howe, Fred Falke and Mumford & Sons' Ben Lovett. Lights debuted atop the UK Albums Chart with first-week sales of 36,854 copies.
In North America, the album charted at number twenty-one in the United States and number sixty-six in Canada. It spawned four singles:
"Under the Sheets", "Starry Eyed", "Guns and Horses" and "The Writer". The album was re-released on 29 November 2010 as Bright Lights,
including six brand-new tracks. It produced two additional singles, those being a cover of Elton John's "Your Song" and "Lights",
which became Goulding's biggest hit to date in the UK and US, respectively. Following the re-release, the album saw a surge in sales
in both the UK and Ireland. On 8 March 2011, the album was released in the United States featuring three songs that were
previously not available on the original version, but were included on the reissue.
Halcyon is the second studio album by English recording artist Ellie Goulding, released on 5 October 2012 by Polydor Records. Recorded between 2011 and 2012, the album sees Goulding working with several producers, including Jim Eliot, Starsmith, Billboard, Justin Parker, MONSTA, Madeon and Mike Spencer, as well as collaborations with artists such as Tinie Tempah and Calvin Harris. The album debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart, selling 33,425 copies in its first week. It also debuted at number nine on the United States' Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 34,000 copies, while reaching the top five in New Zealand, the top ten in Canada and Ireland, and the top twenty in Australia. "Anything Could Happen" was released as the lead single from Halcyon on 17 August 2012, peaking at number five on the UK Singles Chart.
