2012 Republican Presidential Candidates
Michelle "Dumbass" Bachmann: "Don’t misunderstand. I am not here bashing people who are homosexuals, who are lesbians, who are bisexual, who are transgender. We need to have profound compassion for people who are dealing with the very real issue of sexual dysfunction in their life and sexual identity disorders.” (2004)
Ron "Homophobe" Paul: "The rate of AIDS infection is on the increase again. From the gay point of view, the reasons seem quite sensible. First, these men don't really see a reason to live past their fifties. They are not married, they have no children, and their lives are centered on new sexual partners... because sex is the center of their lives, they want it to be as pleasurable as possible, which means unprotected sex. Third, they enjoy the attention & pity that comes with being sick." (1995 in a newsletter)
Rick "Closeted" Perry: "I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a Christian, but you don't need to be in the pew every Sunday to know there's something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can't openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school. " (2011 in a campaign ad)
Mitt "Untrustworthy" Romney: "I should tell my story. I'm also unemployed." (2011 while speaking to unemployed people in Florida. Romney's net worth is over $200 million.)
Newt "Headedforhell" Gingrich: "She's not young enough or pretty enough to be the wife of the President. And besides, she has cancer." (1994, about his first wife)
Rick "Unintelligent" Santorum: "Is anyone saying same-sex couples can’t love each other? I love my children. I love my friends, my brother. Heck, I even love my mother-in-law. Should we call these relationships marriage, too?" (2008)
Michelle "Heartless" Bachmann: "Carbon dioxide is portrayed as harmful. But there isn't even one study that can be produced that shows that carbon dioxide is a harmful gas." (2009 during a debate)
Mitt "Hasissues"Romney: "PETA is not happy that my dog likes fresh air." (2006, when questioned about driving 12 hours with his dog in a cage strapped to the top of his car)

Welp, thanks for the heads up.
Obama should be honored to be the first candidate I will vote for now that I'm legal.

Didn't Ron Paul say in an interview on CNN he didn't write that and didn't really know who did? Or was that about his racist remarks?
Hope this is not true because I liked him

Ron Paul is the only one I have hope in. He won't make it to the primaries, but if I had to pick a candidate I'd pick him. I don't think that he said those homophobic things. Then again, I'd prefer that no Republican get elected this term.

Rob Paul wants to allow companies to not be taxed on labor they outsource overseas. Enough said.

Honestly, I lean on the conservative side on things for many issues....but the Republican candidates this year are SOOOOO far right that it's retarded, and those comments are so ignorant it's not even cute.
Also, random note - I love how Herman Cain gets pushed out of the race because of affair drama -- when Newt freaking left his wife when she was diagnosed with cancer. Why is no one talking about that?!!

You're really naive enough to think that Ron Paul didn't know about the racist and homophobic remarks being published in his own newsletter? You think people saw these proofread these extremely controversial statements, but never thought to ask if Dr. Paul was okay with them? He might not have written it, but he was okay with it being published under his name.
That's not the only instance of homophobia, anyways. But you tried.

The only decent Republican candidate is Mitt Romney IMO.

Really hope Obama gets his second term.

ummm not saying that i agree with him 100% but this statement is in no way unintelligent.... it follows logic.. maybe not a logic you follow, but certainly logic.
Rick "Unintelligent" Santorum: "Is anyone saying same-sex couples can’t love each other? I love my children. I love my friends, my brother. Heck, I even love my mother-in-law. Should we call these relationships marriage, too?" (2008)

It's extremely unintelligent. You don't love your boyfriend the same way that you love your family (you love your boyfriend with your penis). He's basically trying the old slippery slope fallacy of "first gays can get married, then what; brothers marrying sisters? Goats marrying children?" The gap in logic is supposedly so big you can see it from space.

I hope Ron Paul gets the Republican nomination. I don't believe he's a homophobe/racist, I think people change over time and people's views can evolve.
But let's be honest: Mitt Romney is going to win the nomination, and could very easily defeat Obama in a general election.

Hardly. There's not a single republican candidate out right now that the MAJORITY of the country would choose over Obama. It's delusional thinking to think otherwise. Every single one of these candidates has MAJORLY ****ed up their campaigns within the past year. Obama in the past year has repealed Don't Ask Don't Tell, captured Osama Bin Laden, and ended the war in Iraq. It's looking very likely that next year could bring pushes towards the end of DOMA, and that pretty much seals his victory with the college block.
Honestly, all he needs to do is put Hillary Clinton as Vice President on the ballot, and it is OVER.
But the fact that you actually think Santorum's quote is intelligent in any way, shape, or form shows your own intelligence level. The way you love your mother-in-law is very different to the way you love the person you're dating.
