The critics tore Harris' albums to shreds. DIS, Pitchfork and PopMatters gave I Created Disco 1/10, 3.7/10 and 4/10, respectively.

But where Murphy's music is sophisticated, engaging and danceable, I Created Disco is witless and forever tripping over its own feet. Harris's two plodding instrumentals are bad enough, but on most tracks he chants repetitive lyrics so stupid they feel like an insult to the listener. "I can't help but play around," he smirks on The Girls, "because I get all the girls." Not this one, pal.

The fatal flaw of I Created Disco isn't that Harris works with a style he didn't create, it's that-- after a 2007 in which LCD Soundsystem matched Murphy's head for hips with heart, when Justice rendered synths metallic and Simian Mobile Disco made them child's play-- Harris reduces pop's limitless possibilities to one-joke self-parody, his youth his most distinguishing characteristic, an unremembered yesterday always more vibrant than today.

Virtually every review I've read shat on him relentlessly with the LCD S comparisons.

The recycled beats of Guetta doesn't take away the epicness of all his other masterpieces (Titanium, When Love Takes Over, Memories, Commander).
