Madonna's early material, mainly singles from her self-titled debut, Like A Virgin, and several other 80's urban-dance tunes, charted on the R&B charts. Another fact is before Madonna's picture appeared on her single covers (she wasn't pictured on the "Everybody" and I think "Burning Up/Physical Attraction" covers), people assumed she was black.

Anyway, I vote for Ciara, with Ashanti in second place. Though you could have been more creative and included pioneers of modern R&B like Mary J, Aaliyah, Brandy, Monica, Mya, and Faith. Other recent successful R&B stars are Alicia Keys, Keyshia Cole, and Fantasia.

Beyonce's debut is also good but too many ballads aren't always great, especially when they remain the same musical mood. Jojo shouldn't be here at all, IMO, she's pop.

Ciara and Ashanti....HELL NO. They have a few good songs but their albums are filler ****. JoJo is my gurl but she is Pop. Beyonce is of course the winner. Her album is still hott today. Her ballads are the best part of the album...Be With You is my fave B song ever. She's the only one up there with 8 Grammys and that alone speaks for itself.

JoJo (don't have it, but I've heard some tracks from it, not bad)

Beyonce's album is awful, and I don't have/heard any tracks from Ashanti's or Ciara's.

Ashitti and Skeet-era aren't anything close to being B's rivals. You must mean Kelly Rowland. I've heard both cds and I've talked to other people about them and most agreed that they are both filled with filler ****. Just lookin at the survey then again I'm correct.
