I'd presume The Hobbit will open on a Wednesday like all the LOTR films, which I think would rule it out. Plus, opening in December lends itself to longevity rather than big openings.

The new Batman film isn't going to do it! The reason why the last film grossed so much was because it was right around the time people were grieving the death of Heath Ledger. Don't get me wrong, it's still going to make a lot of money, but nowhere near as much as the last film.

I most certainly hope that Twilight mess doesn't break the record. Even just the though is sickening.

And I wouldn't pin The Dark Knights huge numbers solely on Heath Ledger. It had HUGE hype, and was also well, well reviewed.

Yeah, regardless of what got people into theaters to see TDK, almost everyone who did see it loved it. The next film would have to look pretty terrible to turn people away, I think.

Well considering they already have a trailer out for this new one... the hype is already building up. Its opening weekend will be big, but I'm still undecided on wether it'll be bigger then The Dark Knight for now.
