Men Get 7000 Lashes for Sodomy

TWO men in Saudi Arabia have been sentenced to 7000 lashes each after being convicted of sodomy and have received their first round of punishment in public, a newspaper said today.

The men, who were not identified, were meted out an unspecified number of lashes in public in the the southwestern city of Al-Bahah on Tuesday evening, the Al-Okaz daily reported.

They were then returned to prison where they are to be held until the full punishment is completed, the newspaper added, without saying how many sessions this would involve.

Homosexual acts are illegal in Saudi Arabia, which metes out strict punishment based on sharia, or Islamic law.

Rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking can all carry the death penalty in the kingdom, with public beheading the common form of execution.

We have some of the stupidest laws/beliefs in the world/religions. Why do people care what other people do in their lifes if it doesn't affect the world or other people? It's their lifes, who cares what they do in their spare time. Where's justice? I know we all have beliefs and all, but c'mon, killing or hurting people for doing such things like Sodomy is WORSE than the act itself.

Harming or killing people is A LOT more sinful than the act itself. Even if the law doesn't say so, I don't care, doing the opposite is a sin to me. If I was part of the law and someone broke the law or hell "belief" I wouldn't do harm to them. If anything, I'd talk to them and tell them what/what not of it all. Or maybe a fine? Seriously, sometimes I'm glad I live in my own world.

I grew up on Hercules and Xena, so I pretty much learned a lot about justice and ****. I have the weirdest beliefs, just from those shows. Like I said, why should we care what some people do in their spare time. They obviously do it cause they want to feel romantic or want to be aroused, so what. Who cares. It's their problelms.

I understand that, but we aren't going to get anywhere to the point of accepting it if we keep doing what this article clearly did when they did that. Right?

If they want to accept such things, why not start by changing the laws or something? In the US, we are finally accepting gay/lesbians/transexuals, and now the next step is gay marriage. US is actually coming together and talking about such issues. This is what we need to do. Talk about it, not punish people for wanting to pleasure someone else. Since when is love a crime? We need love in this world, not hate/violence.

We all have our beliefs, but c'mon, why punish those who do such things?

Yeah, even though I don't understand why God would punish people for such things...it's nonsense to me. I just know that what matters to him is what's in your heart.

Are you really going to send a person with a GOOD heart full of love to hell because they are gay and had "a few" gay experiences or such things like that? C'mon....that shouldn't matter to God. It's just a sex life. It doesn't mean the person is bad or a killer.

Get what I mean? I love God and I accepted him into my heart. I hope he can do the same to me (especially when I feel I was born this way)

It shouldn't be illegal in the first place, but 7000 lashes, come on exactly how long is that going to take and what would be the point because they could be practically dead before the end of that kind of sentence anyway. The rape part is also a lie, in a many a case the women are arrested for being raped or almost being raped and get a huge chuck of the blame/shame (well ok then that isn't a lie, its just talking about the victim instead of the victimiser).
