Whitney Houston was one of the few pop singers to keep a perfectly balanced scale from top to bottom over a 3 octave range. That's extremely rare. So yeah, she did master her range. Not only that, her entire voice sat on the breath, supported completely by the body. Her virtuosity was incredible. The dynamic range, the use of coloratura articulations, the precision, the vibrant color, the resonance, the clarity and purity. She really was and is The Voice.

Mariah's the best coloratura singer in pop music hands down. And her voice is very rare. The incredible vocal texture, the fact she can take you from baritone to high soprano. The virtuosity is absolutely stunning as well.

Whitney and Mariah were really like first-class opera singers doing pop music.

Celine has a great voice.

You can give Celine more than that

She was really good @ holding her notes for a long period of time. Incredible length and extension.

Mariah Carey is the best vocalist out of the trinity. Whitney is second and Celine is easily last. From a technical standpoint. Mariah uses all her 5 octaves extremely well, Whitney all her 3 octaves well and Celine has a few flaws. Celine can not belt above E5 without having to mix too much head in her belts; plus, she supports from the throat for quite a few of her belts. It's just a lot of consistency problems for Celine.

That's because you don't understand the difference between an amazing technical vocalist and an amazing power belter/singer.

I think it's common knowledge (or should be) that Whitney was the best singer ever. Of all time. She had the most controlled, clear, crisp vocals I've ever heard. Add on that she was super confident on stage and had the power of Mariah and Celine combined and you've got one hell of a singer.

But there's a difference between a singer and a vocalist (Whitney was BOTH, but not as good a vocalist as Mariah). For example, Mary J. Blige is a singer, Christina, Kelly, and Beyonce are vocalists. Whitney as exceptional as she is, could not work the scale the same way Mariah could. I'd call you crazy if you ever said Whitney could sing "Emotions". "Fantasy", "Underneath The Stars", "My All", "Bliss", and "Vision of Love" are the songs that prove Mariah was the better vocalist. American Idol, X Factor, the "Got Talent" shows are even greater proof, that anyone with incredible lung power can tackle most Celine/Whitney songs, but the same can't be said for Mariah. Jessica Sanchez proved that this past season of AI.

None of those songs prove Mariah is the better vocalist. And those talent shows are just people screaming out Whitney's songs. Not even close to the vocal precision in pitch, resonance, ease. Takes more than "lung power" to sing Whitney songs. Even those who add all the extra high notes, they don't sing with the dead-on virtuosic ability of Whitney.
In terms of virtuosity, Mariah is the best in coloratura inflections, Whitney the best in dynamic inflections.

Mariah Carey first cause I love her singing style.She's a great technical singer and has more octaves and range.Whitney Houston is second cause of her voice resonance and powerful belting,and she's "The Voice."Last but not least is Celine she's a good singer,but her covers need to quit sounding the same.
