The purpose of singles are to sell the album. 4 booked platinum without any Top 10's. LOVE? didn't see gold with one of the biggest singles of last year and a mega popular tv show.

Let's not forget that Jenny is WAY past her peak as well. Beyonce was coming off a highly successful era and still couldn't get a hit single. Love? was promoted poorly. Just because she was on Idol did NOT mean she was promoting the album. All in all, I think Love? had around 5-6 promotional performances while Beyonce had way more.

It was THE biggest female single last year.

Was she promoting the album? No. She was just judging a show. You seem to be ignoring b3dro's post about Love? selling more records than 4.
