Isn't the EU's economy the biggest, though? Honestly the Euro has survived in troubled times like these, so I think we could get through this recession. It's a wake up call for the Euro-zone countries.

This is not true, and what's astounding of this post is that 90% of Americans actually believe that. It's going to be a harsh wake up call when the cards are drawn and they are left out in the cold to realize that they were not the center of the world after all.

America is NOT the center of the world? Then what is? But if America falls then so does the rest of the world... Tumbling like dominoes.

You live under a rock? Of course we're in a globalized economy. American jobs being outsourced to India, China, etc.; franchising across the planet, resources being traded.
And some ya'll are reaching. USA is the world superpower and the rest of the countries' know the tea. End of discussion.

Girl, it's EVERY country's best interest for their own country to succeed.
And America is the nation that is expected to the rescue of foreign affairs. Who do you think everyone was waiting for when Haiti was hit? Kuwait was faced with a coup d'état under Sadam? Foreign aid being sent to African countries? And the list goes on.....
It's America.

Rome and England aren't the only Empires to ever be established.
I said "most" not all. The largest contiguous empire in history, The Mongolian Empire, only lasted a little over 100 years. So the Roman Empire and English empire are bad examples.

Which is why not that many countries would come to US's "rescue" during a hypothetical collapse. If the US stops being perceived as the source of infinite wealth they are today, the rest will most likely not care. The poster I was replying to made it sound like it's in the rest of the countries' best interest for the US to remain where it is today. It is not.

Kuwait's mention seems a little out of place in your list but I don't deny your point. In fact go back and read all of my posts in this thread

English is only so popular in this globalization trend because the US and Europe have near complete dominance over world media. Internet, TV, news...China and Japan don't have such a strong global foothold in these areas yet.

Yes Globalization exists.
But here's the issue. What country dominates the media in movies, music, sports, fashion, and art. At this point it is the US. Just by looking at everyone's faves here a good 95% of them are Americans.
You can't rule out the British. They do have influence in culture like the Americans, heck we're all speaking English right now aren't we?
China will have to not only be dominant in the defensive, economic, political, front. But also the cultural. Yes the world is influenced by Chinese culture, but not the the extent of Western culture. There is no doubt that China is a rising power that will soon be a superpower.

The only reason the Mongol Empire didn't last long was because of bad leadership, and inner conflict. The same with the Greek Empire.

The EU gives far more in aid to LEDCs and gave around 3x more than the US did to Haiti.
Kuwait was 20 years ago...
Given how disastrous recent US foreign policy has been, I'm not sure how long your assertion will last

America is also give or take 2.5 the size of the EU and some of US states are bigger than a few EU countries combined.
