Yeah, I agree. It's almost sad how the digital age will allow so many artists to surpass her some day in the far future, but that can't change how huge and influential she's been.

Not to mention singles used to be twice the price they are now (if not more) before digital, so

No. It did well considering the experimental masterpiece it is. It's not public-friendly at all.

U2 and Bon Jovi would only want that collaboration in desperation of remaining relevant.

This also. That's why i never take seriously people who said their faves will "outsell" Madonna one day. At the end of the day Madonna will always have more album sales and everyone knows that's the most important thing. There's nothing impressive about "outselling" someone with single sales. No shade to any pop girl here.
After all it's still possible to sell a lot of albums, Adele is a perfect example. I never got the "she's an exception" argument, that doesn't make sense. She proved it's possible to do it, so technically all our others faves could be able to do it too. Mostly if they're at their peak and with huge exposure (airplay, promo,...).
Let's see in the future how albums sales will be.

I honestly don't think album sales will ever really recover. We're doomed to less-than-1 million sales for the rest of Madonna's career. But she could still get some big hits!

Maybe you're right. But honestly, at this point of Madonna's career it's not the end of the world. She already had it all, any form of success in the future is a bonus. I hope she will do well of course.

I'm convinced Madonna's still doing it for ****s, giggles, cash and promoting causes she believes in now. I can honestly, at this point, see Confessions being remembered as her last classic record.
Or she could shock everyone yet.
AND, her tours are still awesome.

Are there no updated sales for MDNA in the US? It's obviously not still at 484,000.

I'm sure it was about 5 dollars per single...at least that's what the early singles cost
Bjork is an alien sent to observe us who inadvertently became a pop star in the process, initially mistakenly believing that we communicated exclusively with song and rhyme. The song "Human Behavior" is actually a status report home.

It makes me mad when I hear stuff about COAD like that
COAD is not Iconic, it is not classic, it is not anything, just damn fluff and glitter for the gays

Question remains, does she still have what it takes to make another great pop record like ray of light?

Are you sure Give It 2 Me sold less than a million?
I know some of her singles haven't done so well, but I think you might have underestimated some numbers.
I mean, did Beautiful Stranger really sell that much more than Frozen and RoL?

I don't think it's bad but I feel it is sometimes overrated, and I feel it it's subpar to Like a Prayer, Ray of Light, American Life, True Blue and even Erotica

I onl estimated the singles from what I could find. If all the reported sales for it were, say, 840k, I'd estimate a million. They're a bit of a mess but I haven't found any sources for worldwide sales for them, so I just keep tweaking them based on sales and shipments that we do have.
But I mean, one source says "Don't Tell Me" sold 4.5 million ( ), so I guess a lot of her other singles are all underestimated.
