The number 13 pretty much defines this game. What if the series is supposed to be done in 13 years? The first game came out in 2002. 13 years later would be 2015. It's a stretch, and I don't see why they'd limit themselves to such time restraints, but it would make sense with this long ass wait.

OR, they could take a different approach and do 13 entries to the game, spin-offs counting. There's 8 entries to the series so far (12 if you include re:coded and the 3 Final Mixes).

I only ever played the first and 2nd games on playstation 2 and it was the greatest thing in the world. I had a legit crush on Sora and I LOVED LOVED LOVED that game ugh so good. I have no knowledge of any other spinoffs

Do you have to play the spinoffs to understand the 3rd game? Also is 3rd Kingdom Hearts being released to consoles?

I've played Chain Of Memories and 358/2 Days. There's coded, Dream Drop Distance, and Birth By Sleep I haven't played. I'm pretty sure Dream Drop Distance will be kinda important. However, there's a chance I might just read up on all of the plots of the spin offs beforehand. But of course, the main games are the most important.

Of course the 3rd will be released to consoles. They would never be so foolish as make it a handheld game. That'd be commercial suicide on their part, tbh.

Birth By Sleep is pretty important in my opinion. As well as Dream Drop Distance but I won't be able to play that.

I can't keep waiting for KH3 without any news or anything!

DDD will be to KH3 what COM was to KH2. So yes, the storyline is important.

If we don't get any news at the Tokyo Game Show in September, I'm 100% sure we'll have to wait till 2014. And, of course, probably the holiday of 2014. Square Enix is trying my patience...

Thankfully, they said Dream Drop Distance was the last spinoff they'd do until KH3. So the next game will be KHIII.

Keep in mind that the spinoffs are still important because they continue the story. Yes, we want the console games, but the side games have relevance.

I JUST GOT KH3D AND I PERSONALLY LOVE IT SO FAR

now, imo Coded is the most unnecessary game, it didn't do much in the storyline except fill in an extremely small hole in 3D, which would've been done if they just said Mickey found a secret message.

i've been with this series since 2002. literally when KH3 comes, i'll be done with the series. i just want to know how Sora's story ends, i've been following it for this long i might as well just see how it all comes together.

Kingdom Hearts 3 will not be the final game in the series and Sora's story will not end there according to Nomura.
