Yes you can still say it and assume it will be censored. The words are filtered before they are saved in the database, so there's no difference between saying the word and typing the asterisks.

The swear filter is here to stay for the foreseeable future, and circumventing it will result in WP.

The admins and mods aren't happy with it either, but for now we have no choice.

Therefore, if I say "Beck sucks," he'll never see it or care, because I am one fan, but if I say "Lee sucks," then he can find out or one of you can tell him. I'll stop rambling, but I guess my question is: How and to what extent does the person that someone is insulting/dragging in a post determine whether it can be warned or not?

Personally, I look at the tone/words/comparison, not the person, but I agree with Kworb for the most part.

It really depends on the context for me, since so many of the members tend to use certain words way too casually for it to be taken as a serious insult, which Patrick sort of brought up with the mention of playful banter. Still, most likely will get banned.

Oh I highly agree that both of the posts you mention SHOULD have been warned but if the mods don't feel like it should be warned, there's not much you can do about it

I'm going to wait till Katie comes back on and ask her what she thinks... she's the mod who's been the most helpful to me and hopefully she will look at the posts for what they are and warn them accordingly...
