The person just brought up #1s and I was just telling them that she had another one on a different chart.

Stop. Just stop. If Rita had a #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 you would totally use that. Because she doesn't, you are criticizing the chart while praising some random Dance chart. lol

I have no idea. I saw her live and she was charming, witty and incredibly talented.
And all of you who are saying she's a cheap Rihanna have obviously not heard her sing live, because she takes giant massive ****s over anything that Rihanna has ever been able to pull off.

Pretty much. That's what made me a fan. I saw her live and she had mad personality, stage presence, the VOCALS, the attitude....nothing was choreographed yet she still owned the stage and had personality for days. With the right material and growth she will be fine.

2 bad that vocal doesn't sell the songs / no shade.
If she doesn't get some better material she's going nowhere, people ain't stupid.
How We Do (Party) if better promoted, could reach TOP 20-25 in US at best.
She should tried her best to avoid the Rihanna comparisions, but her album cover, songs and the whole image make it almost impossible.

And this is only album #1. Rihanna didn't become the megastar she was until after the hits of album #2 and the start of GGGB era with "Umbrella".

Many of Rihanna stans seem to disregard her first two albums, and act as if "Good Girl Gone Bad" was her debut. Unless, they want to bring in single success and they may mention "Pon De Replay" or "SOS."
Otherwise, Rihanna was not that big of a factor prior to "Umbrella," and no one had hope for her. It seems that more people have hope for Rita than they did for Rihanna at that time.

Have you seen Rihanna live?
I became a Rihanna fan when I stopped talking that talk and walked that walked to her concert.

Most debut albums are "safe", there are exceptions ofcourse, but it all seems a hoax to keep comparing Rihanna to Rita, Rihanna changes her style very often, yeah they had a similair hairstyle for a bit, but that happens more with stars. Her material may be "basic" or "weak" to people, but a debut is too built from, her label basically put her in the studio with the producers that are hot, and producers these days are bound to sound similair through their productions. If she didn't worked with Stargate or The Dream and would have worked with RedOne as example instead, I bet people would slam her for ripping of Nicki or JLO, since I bet that anyone who works with RedOne now, will sound like Starships/Pound The Alarm part 3 or OTF/DA part 3, and the same happens with loads of other producers.
Her album cover really doesn't looks anything like Rihanna's, that is just reaching, loads of artists have used faceshots, there are enough black and white covers. Her image is also different, okay they wore some of the same tops and shirts but so what, they both mixed them with different clothes and made them their own.

She's working with the right persons, but she fails to deliver and her material is lacking wow factor.

I saw Rihanna twice. Powerhouse Philly and Kanye's Glow In The Dark tour....was out of place both times with stiff walking and dance moves and horrible Goatish yodeling vocals. Her albums are catchy though. Good Girl Gone Bad and on. First two...very dated and boring.

I love Rita. I stan for her but saying she sings better then Rihanna is irrelevant honestly. it's a opinion that doesn't take away from the fact that majority of the world know her as a Rihanna reject. Having a great voice isn't all it takes. She hasn't released any material that can be stamped as "Rita".
As for as debut's. MOTS is a great album compared to most debut's from 16 year olds. So i don't understand the shade. Rita is getting waaaaay more promo then Rih did in her debut and she benefits from Jay already having big artists like Rihanna, Neyo etc. He knows more now then ever how to manage a artist and can fix any mistakes he ever made. But yet Rita still isn't smashing. I blame her team. and everyone that doesnt like Rita are not haters. grow up.
Hopefully Radioactive smashes. she deserves it,

To be truthfully honest i didn't even know Rih was 16 and don't know of any other 16 yo artists to compare her debut to, but to compare debuts of megastars....I thought her debut was very week and it's SO dated.
