Ugh. The Edge of Glory got paid dust this era. Being released as a promo single then all of sudden everyone thinks this is the 3rd single, so it gets rush released as an official single. Then the video became a wasted opportunity. The original concept w/ Joseph Khan was so interesting. They even built the sets and such but it all went to waste. Then to add on to all that, Interscope decides not to submit it to ROTY and SOTY at the Grammys and submit JUDAS. Mother****ing JUDAS instead. If BTW, MTN and TEOG were the first singles there was a huge chance at 3 #1's if they all got proper treatment.
Other than that the song is flawless and a stand out in her discography.
I'm agree with you. I'm still pressed about the Grammy situation
This song is absolute magic. The Edge of Glory is one of those songs that even people who aren't really fans of Gaga can admit it is a brilliant song. I remember the week after it came out being in dance class at school and literally everybody just jumping around the room when it was playing and people saying "I have to admit, this is a really good song."
The Edge of Glory is one of those 'driving down the highway with the roof down' kind of songs. Just really powerful and uplifting, and not in a preachy way.
Even though I would have loved The Edge of Glory's original video as I think that mermaids is much better suited to it than You And I, the video we got still holds a special place in my heart. There's something about it that just makes me love it so much.
I also would like to point out, that I was there at Radio 1's Big Weekend when she performed it for the first ever time. I'm still so happy that I witnessed the first ever performance of this standout song in her discography.
