All of those are also male artists who don't even compete with each other. With females, it's rather different.

Radio is the biggest promotional platform in the UK though. There's no denying that. Another difference between the UK and the US.

Televised promotion is still pretty much a centerpiece of commercial music here, and has been since the days of Elvis Presley and The Beatles performing on the Ed Sullivan show.
