2 years after the album came out is too late. The rerelease was too late.

And they still have about the same domestic gross.

You can use the excuse that she had 5 #1's... but that's only in US. She sold more than 3M copies in the rest of the world including more than 1M in UK.

Sorry, but both TTT and BTW have 1/8th the amount of #1 hits, so it's horrid that an album with such massive single sales is not outselling an album with one #1, two flops, and two okay singles on a WW level. TD sold well for a pop album, but not well for a pop album WITH a record-breaking amount of #1 singles.

Although the movie underperformed, remember that Teenage Dream went back to #2 on the Hot 100, and Wide Awake SOARED when the movie released.
Oh, and I actually liked the movie. It wasn't a bad film! I actually went to the premiere in Toronto with Katy Perry in the audience! Everyone seemed to really like it!

ALBUM SALES are ALBUM SALES. There's no album sales with amount of #1. Some artists sell millions without hits like Taylor Swift, Norah Jones, and some artists sell millions and sell singles too.
Just because TD had massive single sales doesn't mean 5.4M are not good sales. Only a few can sell more than 5M nowadays, that's impressive.

Some pundits argue that the tally for Teenage Dream should be even higher, given all the hits that Perry has had from the album. Teenage Dream is the only album in history to spawn three 5-million-selling digital hits: "Firework" (5,717,000), "California Gurls" (featuring Snoop Dogg, 5,315,000) and "E.T." (featuring Kanye West, 5,282,000).
I see the point they're making, but I think they're missing the big picture. The songs' success is in addition to the album's success. The album has been a big hit just by itself, and then when you factor in the songs' success, the whole story is even more impressive.

So ****ing HOT!!!
However, I don't think of myself as just a pop artist, but someone who knows she has a bigger meaning. I'm not doing this for myself; I'm doing this because it's my destiny... Robyn

No shade, but it wasn't like a movie about Katy Perry would be this supposed huge success in the first place. People like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, and even Beyonce could get away with it because they have very strong and dedicated fanbases that would take the time to go see it.

Stop hating gurl! 3-year TD promo?
The album was released in August of 2010, almost two years!!
1. Avril Lavigne - Here's To Never Growing Up
2. Paramore - Still Into You
3. Guy Sebastian - Battle Scars (f/ Lupe Fiasco)
4. Pitbull - Feel This Moment (f/ Christina Aguilera)
5. Paty Cantú - Suerte
This has been a Switchup!

Bad release date. It's a beautiful movie but I do think that people are not as interested in her as lets say JB (little kids)
If suppose it was Gaga let's say, I believe it would have flopped also cuz it's gaga and usually her fans will only go unlike some other singers were you see a wide variety of people attending.
