It has something to do with fact that professional 35mm tape has higher resolution than Full HD as you can see on big cinema screens. I can't tell you all specification but I've read that even old movies can be easily converted to HD from original tapes.
The promotion here is insane. They have Teenage Dream playing on repeat in the foyer...
Anyway, what are the predictions for The Amazing Spiderman? Just saw it, good enough but a lot of it felt too familiar and unnecessary having already seen the 2002 one. You can really tell it's a James Horner score too.
Box office update: 'The Amazing Spider-Man' earns a record-breaking $35 million on Tuesday
Looks like Sony has another hit on their hands!
The studio’s reboot The Amazing Spider-Man grossed $35 million on its opening day in theaters ($7.5 million of that came from midnight showings, and $4 million from 307 IMAX screens), thereby beating the 2-D, IMAX-less Transformers, which earned $27.9 million on its opening day on July 3, 2007, and setting a new Tuesday box office record.
“We are off to an outstanding start here in North America with big fireworks still to come!” says an excited rep for the studio. The July 4th frame is always a lucrative one in theaters.
The $220 million action movie now seems headed for a six-day total above $150 million (Transformers earned $155.4 million in its first six days) — high above Sony’s internal expectations, which had The Amazing Spider-Man earning between $110 and $120 million during the Tuesday-to-Sunday period. Of course, there’s always the chance the picture could crumble from here, but that seems unlikely. Spidey offers an upbeat, popcorn-munching adventure on the weekend when people are most likely to see effects-heavy blockbusters, and audiences are enjoying the film — it earned an “A-” CinemaScore grade.
Originally posted by Swag Sahn MIGHT be Remixed though. It all makes sense because Remixed sometimes stans for Madonna.
Sony's THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN netted $341.2M worldwide, including $140M domestically in 6 days.
Good numbers for a reboot but a bit disappointing for SPIDER-MAN and for its $220M budget. Better than BATMAN reboot #s.
@ERCboxoffice She's no Bieber. Katy Perry's 3D doc, PART OF ME, debuted #8 on the charts w/ just $7.1M.
@Giteshpandya Weak showing for #KatyPerry3D w/ just $7.2M wknd, $10.3M 4day & poor $2600 wknd avg. Daily declines since 1st day.
After 3 years of nonstop TD promo, 2 BILLION radio AI in the US alone and a very aggressive promotional campaign by Paramount including "divorce tell-all" interviews, the studio's hopes of beating Bieber's $29M opening were dashed. In fact it did ~ HALF of Jonas Brothers 3D despite playing on over TWICE as many screens.
Brave and they said a Pixar Princess movie would flop
Savages I think most people will walk out uncomfortable; it really pushes the limits of violence, rape, torture, sex. But I had fun.

My mom loves Angelina and has been dragging Jennifer Anderson (she seems to outright refuse to learn her name) all week for not removing her breasts too. She says she may as well since no man stays attached to them.
It's too early to say for certain, but things really aren't looking good for Katy Perry: Part of Me....... even worse, though, is that it's noticeably off from Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience ($9.7 million), which is a notorious bomb in the concert movie genre
