Will Katy get more critical acclaim next era?
Well, with Katy talking about going more into a dark, artistic vibe next era, do you think music critics will be more favorable towards her?

If it's on the level of mediocrity of her past work, it will get bashed even more.

Well, I thought her movie would finally garner her some positive reviews. She has a 55 on Metacritic so far and that might go up, but regardless I think Katy will have to work VERY hard and put out a GREAT record in order to receive positive reviews or critical acclaim. It's up in the air right now, tbh.

If it's genuine yes if not, the critics will take it as an opportunity to knock her down a few pegs

Perhaps the same or a little more, but I doubt her label will allow her to grow too much musically - they wouldn't let the biggest US hit machine since Mariah just get away.

I think her acclaim will be about the same. Music critics just don't seem to be here for her.

I doubt she'll receive legit "critical acclaim," but I can easily see her going up from where she is; a Metascore in the low-60s shouldn't be out of reach.

Probably. I'm quite sure she's going to have some deeper and more personal lyrics next era. I hope a little bit higher score than TD at least.

I think she'll be out of the 50's low to mid 60's seems like the most viable answer
Drake / The Weeknd / Azealia Banks / A$AP Rocky / Kanye West / Katy Perry / Rihanna / Marina and the Diamonds / Selena Gomez / Ellie Goulding

The movie is at 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, which covers more reviews.
As long as Katy doesn't talk about sex so much, critics will be nice. You guys think that critics, like the general public, get an opinion of an artist and keep it forever regardless of the type of music. That would be the OPPOSITE of a professional, unbiased critic. Some of the reviewers that gave OOTB a bad review gave Teenage Dream good reviews. And visa versa.
Look at Kesha. Animal had horrible reviews. Then Cannibal had great reviews.

This.
Katy needs to progress in her music. If she makes another Teenage Dream critics will give her an even worse score. If It's less about sex and more mature, then they will praising her for the progression.

If Katy can release an album of all Thinking of Yous and Circle the Drains, she'd get quite a lot of critical acclaim.
If she continues to release cheap songs that are radio safe - California Girls, Last Friday Night, Part of Me - She'll never earn the respect of critics.

Nope. From what I've heard, she's making it seem like she's just trying hard to go dark/gothic with her image/music without much of a definite direction or substance to back it up.She's acting like a 13 y.o wannabe who thinks being goth is kewl without knowing **** about gothic subculture. That's more like trying to create an illusion in minds of people that she's moving towards artistic growth when it's not really it.That's not gonna work with critics.I hope I'm wrong though.

This.
Katy could be doing "darker" music but that doesn't automatically guarantee better music. It's up to her to top OOTB and TD, which honestly shouldn't be too hard

I think radio is her bread and butter so she should stick to catering to that format with radio-friendly songs.
