It's not that strange; back in the middle of 2000's it was not like YouTube could immediately spread the success of a song like it happens today, making the peaks of the song reach a similar timing almost everywhere.
That was their breakout hit but it took them months to make it succeed quite everywhere because it was propelled properly from market to market, making the torch pass from Country to Country more than being a global hit at more or less the same time everywhere.
The way a song becomes a success nowadays is different than it used to happen when people were not as interconnected as today.
