To go from Songs About Jane to whatever the hell they are now...
"Why is Taylor Swift regarded as such a good role model anyway? I wouldn't want any daughter/niece of mine to grow into a girl-bashing, *****-shaming, boy-crazy, eternally-virginal damsel in distress who seems to perennially look at the world through the prism of a victim. That's not empowering. That's not even healthy." - U4EA
Nicki Minaj. Okay, I get that she wanted to break in with Pink Friday - that's pretty good. After she made it, Nicki should have used that opportunity to show that you can dominate, as a female, with hip-hop. Instead, she goes pop and blonde all one record. Her lyrics show no sign of evolving either.
Katy Perry is second, but not because of the whole Christina aspect. One of the Boys was kind of unique, and now she's spitting out replicas of songs released three seconds ago.
Rihanna and Britney shouldn't count. They started out being trendy and just continue to do so...

In some respects, all artists are sellouts. I mean, Gaga went from grunge artist/classical brunette pianist? to an extroverted, controversial platinum.
So i choose Other: Lady Gaga.
Your first example of Gaga describes Born This Way
i refuse to vote Nicki she cant be a sellout when the music is this ****ing good
i vote Katy Perry, she is the most manufactured singer of all time
BRITNEY - GAGA - KANYE - RIHANNA - BEP
R.I.P MICHAEL JACKSON
Its like your screaming, and noone can hear. You almost feel ashamed. That someone could be that important that without them you feel like nothing. Noone will ever understand how much it hurts. You feel HOPELESS. Like nothing can save you ...<3
I hate this term so much. If someone wants to better themselves and reach a wider audience, they're a "sellout"? Katy didn't wanna be a Christian singer.
Maroon 5's sound is still the same, just better music.
Britney was always the way she is. The sex appeal is(was) synonymous with her name.
Same with Rihanna.
The only person I can't use this excuse for is Nicki, so i voted her.
Katy never really sold out. It's not like she made the leap from Christian pop star to secular pop star in two years. She was really young with that first record, heavily influenced by her parents, but she lost interest in doing that kind of music. She's been doing commercial pop records for a long time now.

Another day to see the wheel turning
Another avenue to try
