She might not have broken it according to Billboard, but she pretty much did. His record now requires the distinction of "over one release", and even then she tied it. If you go by all releases of the same album he's only in second place now. That's nothing to worry about, though, records are made to be broken.

I don't think anyone can out do Interscope's massive BTW promo in NYC. Gaga's face was plastered five stories high on buildings around Port Authority and Times Square, the words Born This Way dominated billboards in Chelsea, more multiple story-high plasters of her album cover were put by subway entrances and had a cutout where you would enter the stairs to the subway, subway cars were plastered on the inside and outside with Born This Way and her face, Interscope hosted multiple debut parties in the Village on the same night, Z100's top of the hour album previews, her many interviews and talk show appearances, her free concert in Central Park, etc. Everywhere you walked, you would see her face and the words Born This Way. On top of that, that Amazon 99 cent sale that we all like to shade. Interscope and Gaga did the most and I have yet to see anyone out-promo the duo.

I like Wide Awake, it's a cute song. I see why it is a big deal for Katy and her label. They should do more promo.

MTV is owned by Viacom who is making Katy's movie. I think Viacom is using their TV networks to help promote the movie for their movie studio Paramount.

Think about it. Most of Katy's movie ads have been showing up on Viacom stations.

Interscope sucks. It's full of flop artists like Nicole Scherzinger, Natalia Kills, Dev, Madonna, Keri Hilson, Skylar Grey, 2NE1, Girls Generation, M.I.A, Nelly Furtado, Lana Del Rey, etc. It's just awful. But we know the reason for this is because they have one pop star they pay ALL their attention to, and the rest just get ignored.
