Depends. My fave has both. But I couldn't see myself stanning for an artist and they're more of a project for actual artists. When your music is already completely thought out and done and you just sing it to the best of your ability...I can't respect or appreciate that. I guess why Katy is in my sig. She chooses to make commercial material and writes. Whereas Rihanna is sent a finished product, sings with the help of a ccomputer and puts it on an album.

ATRL stan for popular artists who sell millions and are already huge stars, have hits etc.

So it's not true that people here only care about talent... all these artists are not famous for being talented (i'm not saying they are not).... there are 322414 more talented artists on this world and you never heard about them on ATRL.

Oh no, but if you don't have a lot of talent, I don't think as a matter of principle, you should be outdoing talented artists. Talent ought to surive. You can't be in a job and useless, yet keep it, whilst those with qualifications don't get it. Kesha is talented though, she writes her stuff.

People who have actual talent+the ability to put it to it's best use and actually make an effort to put out the best they can impress me the most.These are the people who I can say I like,enjoy AND respect.They serve in all aspects.Gaga,Beyonce,Xtina and few others do that for me.

Then there are people who seem fun and enjoyable but don't have much input in what's being sold with their name on or don't have any extraordinary talent,like Rihanna.I don't think really high of them,but they still find a place in my casual favs' list.However,I would never legitimately stan for such people or call them my primary favs.

And there are people who have inherent talent but still aren't doing anything praise-worthy,for eg. Jessie J.Bad vocal technique and generic music.Hence why I dislike her even though she has more actual talent than the likes of Rihanna.

We all stan for a product.

Britney is a talented dancer, Gaga is a talented singer, Rihanna is a talented entertainer...

but all you see is the final product.... you don't stan for the talent, you are not seeing Gaga singing her songs, Britney dancing.... it's not just that...

They are part of Big Labels... they have lot of money to hire famous directors for their videos, the label make sure they are everywhere.... they are promoted.... they are surrounded by proffesionals working for them...

Some people who is by far more talented but has no marketing you never heard them on the radio because they are not part of the business...

I mean, usually artists are talented in different ways, but there's no logical reason why we fell in love with a certain song or artist.... people always try to discredit Katy because she makes formula songs that are catchy, entertaining, but lot of artists try to do that and fail to sell millions and have longevity.. she has something unique and people like her, there's something about her, no matter if she's no whitney houston...

Nono of these are popular or commercially succesful for their talent.

They are talented in different ways though,

but don't pretend you stan for the most talented artists when you spend all day fighting for chart positions, sales, forbes, etc.

Not everybody on ATRL stans for these.
There are a lot of people on this site who love Marina,Lana,Florence and other incredibly talented artists.
But you are right for the most parts

Good music. Then artists who paid their dues and sharpening their skills from time to time, then talent. Well imo, talent is grown, not given. I don't care if my faves are flops commercially, but their music will outlast them if it's really good.
