When you look at the beauty standards we are setting for ourselves, it's VERY telling of our own complexes.

Where do you think those complexes (minor complexes imo, but nonetheless) come from? Those minorities don't wake up one day putting stereotypical "Eurocentric" features (and I emphasize, stereotypical, because that's what it is) on a pedestal. It's the various forms on media that are always converging on people from childhood that have to potential to mold how a person feels about themselves and also others. Many don't have the sight to see through it properly or at all.

I know people teased Beyonce in the past about bleaching (even myself) but our skin is very unique and fragile. At the moment my skin is light, tomorrow it can easily go dark if I walk to much in the Sun and if it rains tomorrow my skin can became a little lighter. When my father goes to the Netherlands he looks seriously white.
So Beyoncé was never dark so to say.

Was this meant to be an argument to the post of mine that you quoted? Because it's really not. And if it wasn't mean to be, well then, ok. The last line about Beyonce, yes I think everyone knows that.

I wasn't talking about features; I'm speaking strictly about color. White people generally don't chop and dice light/medium/dark skinned Black the way we focus on it. Look at who we promote from within our community. You'll be hard pressed to find a woman in most rap/R&B artists videos that are darker brown paper bag.

don't think she'll have the same success it's sad but it's true
“I’m becoming a little more comfortable in front of the camera. I wasn’t used to it before. I was thrown into a new lifestyle and everything I do is kind of filmed or photographed. I’m a private guy. I like to keep to myself. I’m shy, maybe. It gets kind of tricky for me but, I’m beginning to find the fun in it. I don’t take myself too seriously so if I’m front of the camera, that’s what you’re going to get, me clowning around."(Bruno Mars)

It's sad, but imo black people have to come harder with the music, be interesting again. We have the vocals, and moves, not the songs.

I definitely agree; when you're of a minority race and culture it's definitely easy to develop complexes as you may not see yourself in a lot of what is portrayed as beautiful by the mainstream.

What I said applies to color also...It's the various forms on media that are always converging on people from childhood that have to potential to mold how a person feels about themselves and also others. Many don't have the sight to see through it properly or at all. Also, a music video does not constitute the values of a community, at all. That was a bad example.

No, it's not a bad example because for better or for worse, our culture is most heavily represented in the mainstream through the entertainment industry.

For very different reasons. Lauryn Hill was never viewed as a beautiful, sex symbol by white America either. Beyonce caters to an "acceptable" perception of what a "pretty" black woman is in the media.
It's the same reason Michelle Obama was always viewed as looking angry or intimidating. If she was some fair skinned, softer features black woman then she would be "okay." but because she's darker and a strong female then she must be angry, right?
Stereotypes kill me and the stress and ******** they place upon a race of people is very disheartening. I'm honestly surprised Rihanna is as celebrated as she is...but you notice she's more popular when she has certain looks versus others ( those that are more black, African inspired).

I don't think it would have been a problem but we can't really not know. Whitney, Janet, Naomi, Lauryn Hill had enough drive and talent to get there. I think considering how ambitious and focused she is, she would have made it anyway. At least in that case, her success would not be constantly downgraded because she is light and she wouldn't suffer so many bleaching jokes for so many sad people who definitely know it's not the case.

I think the bleaching jokes are annoying as hell and it's usually coming from people that are ignorant as to how Black people's skin absorb light and can look very different in photos depending on how much or little lighting there is, with/without makeup, camera quality, artificial or natural light, etc.

I been said since DAY 1.
Beyonce would not have the same success if she was dark skinned and that's a fact. Hell, most of her fans wouldn't stan for her if she was dark skinned and they know it. #FACT
It's ****ed up, but it's true. But since she's light, got a dope body, pretty face, they stan for her. Why doesn't Jennifer Hudson have that much success when at times it's questionable that she sings better? Of even Kelly Rowland, why doesn't she have much success if she jas great songs?
I just think aside from her vocals and her performances obviously, that attracts alot of people because she's light and they think it's right and dope.
