I'm giving the songs points depending on it's ranking. The #1 song on your list get's 20 points and the #2 song gets 19 & so on.

I suggest you give #1 songs 30, then #20 songs 11 points, instead of 20-1, because then I feel like songs near the end of the list have absolutely no representation and are pointless.

Well I'll post my reason why and you might see why I think mine is better.

Okay, let's say a song gets two #1 positions with your rule. It gets 40 points.

If a song gets 10 #20 posts with that rule, it still only gets 1/4th the points with 5x more voters voting for it.

That makes the last 4-5 songs on peoples' lists almost... powerless.


But if they get 30 points, it'd be 60 vs 110.

Okay but even with more people voting for one song, isn't a few people giving a song lots of praise better than many people giving a song very little praise? Those songs would still lose in the end anyway.

Well, of course the placement matters, but it seems lame that some songs voted by a LOT more people have like no chance because they're at the bottom. I think it gives the #1 spot by people way too much power and a song chosen by lots of people means its more loved than a song chosen and loved more by a few.

Okay okay, but me no wanna.

If someone really cares about the song, they'll give it a high rank. If it a lot of people place it a t the bottom, the song is going to the bottom anyhow.
