So Your Saying Aretha Franklin Has More Cultural Impact Then Whitney & Madonna!....Gorl I Cannot Deal
Yes!!Yes!! But I won't debate that though, most people here have no idea what Aretha really represents.
We have to take the lead.
If we are educated, our girls will value education.
If we respect our bodies, they will value theirs.
If we are brave, they will grow up to be fearless.
Until we walk the walk, it just continues to be talk.

Before ratings started falling, The Voice UK attracted 10 million viewers a night. What other star attracts 10 million viewers a night? Jessie's impact spreads to TV.
Cheryl and X Factor had bigger ratings then Jessie.
Sis please stop. I love Jessie and she is doing amazing but she's not culturally impacting anything beside geordies that want to copy her style. Your making it too easy to shade her, that even I can't resist. You'd do less harm to Jessie not bringing her up then trying to make her happen here on ATRL. She'll happen eventually, she's too good not to.
Sorry but what are you talking about? Atrl lmao....
sweetie check the credits again (rolling stones, vh1 etc) any prestige. List aretha is the only female ranked ahead of madonna
Uhh "honey", what did Aretha change exactly? She was an acclaimed R&B artist, but that's all she was...an R&B artist. Whitney actually blended the genres of Pop and R&B to become to the superstar we know now as Whitney. Madonna thought out of the typical Pop-artist box and expanded what Pop was known as back in the 20th century. Aretha sang well, but that's all she did, sorry.

Look guys before I stop just watch this. Anyone who is relevant in the UK and China (as shown below) has a cultural impact. Just admit it and I'll stop...
JESSIE J. NO-ONE ELSE
I just don't get why people want to make sense of the world. At the end of the day, we are all living on some random rock in the middle of a big black darkness which we know nothing about. It is pretty much a lost cause. Don't agonise over it...just enjoy life!
Every artists needs them both to have a strong career. Artists always need sales/success to have impact, since they won't be popular enough to have it. And in the other hand, a career's longetivity/ Artist's recognition related to impact. Without impact you can't be memorable in the long run.
Aretha Is The Queen Of Soul But Is She Really Known Worldwide & Where Is Her WW Cultural Impact?
Of course she is known worldwide and her impact is on all the female soul singers (and perhaps, all female singers in general) who have followed her. "R.E.S.P.E.C.T" is one of the greatest, most influential songs sung by a woman. Aretha meant more than just being a good singer.
By contrast Whitney, despite being a tremendously talented vocalist, only really sang pop songs and ballads to cater to a mainstream audience. Yes she was a huge star at her height but she didn't really change anything.
Adele, Avril and Lana.
3 very different queens but all rule equally.
Jessie J has had huge cultural impact. First of all, her debut album got to #11 in the US, her single Domino got top ten, she has had three tours (1 arena tour) in support of one album, she has been on the front page of all the UK tabloids, she has been mentioned on ATRL a few times by other people that aren't me...I could go on.

Yeah...because everyone there was clapping madly and there was a standing ovation.
Sis please, that must mean Pixie Lott must have cultural Impact because she's big here in the UK but big in Japan as well.

This comment is awful. are you really trying to downgrade RnB music? She was a soul singer she made the music she liked and was amazing at that. By your definition, Usher is way more impactful than Al Green or Luther Vandross/Marvin gaye/james Brown just because unlike them he made pop songs and venture outside of RnB. How disgusting.
Aretha influenced Rock band legends such as Rolling Stones, her contempories like Tina or Patti, pop legends like Michael Jackson, Prince ; huge voices like Mariah carey and Whitney Houston/Céline Dion; RnB legends like Marvin Gaye or James Brown the Godfather of Soul himself. and all that by doing ONE music genre. Which other female singer has ever touched so many people?
Name me one real artist that are influenced musically (not thematically, visually or vocally) by the two artists you just listed?
