View Full Version : Request Countdown: The FreeWave/BRC Collection(RIP)
First of all, my current daily countdown, other than a random post here or there, will probably never come back to the YTT forum. Too tiresome to post them on ATRL these days. I figure that a weekly countdown would be easier for me at the moment, less work, only one day a week needed to update it.
Why stop there, though? For the first time in the history of the Your Top Ten forum, I present to you not just one, but TWO weekly countdowns, under one collective nickname: The FreeWave. One countdown is based strictly on current songs, the songs that are current singles, whether they be successful or not. This one is called The FreeWave: Current. The other countdown is for...well, everything else. Whether it be recurrent tracks or old school tracks, hell, even non-singles, anything is fair game. This countdown is called The FreeWave: The Others.
The FreeWave: Current has a ten week retirement rule, just like the TC 10. However, unlike the TC 10, there are no premieres. Songs will debut on the countdown whenever the hell I feel like it. On the other hand, The FreeWave: The Others has no restrictions. No retirement dates, no stats(other than for the weeks one song gets to #1). It is simply..there.
With that said, I give to you...The FreeWave for the week of Tuesday, April 25th, 2006.

faint_lpc 6/6/2006, 2:46 PM I though "Seize The Day" was higher :-/
good countdown :D
I though "Seize The Day" was higher :-/
The top ten has become harder than ever to rank for me because those ten songs are all just about equal. The only two songs that have any bit of seperation are the Top 2. Seize The Day realistically could have went as high as #3 because the other eight songs are THAT close.
Kinda silly to point this out, I know, but I just felt like explaining that. :p
XplicitNG 6/6/2006, 4:20 PM Gnarls Barkley & Pearl Jam for top two!
MC Steven 6/7/2006, 2:37 AM Alien Ant Farm need to make the Top 10...that song is amazing.
Life Wasted mada a huge return ^____^
Get Seize The Day, Crazy, Miss Murder, or Life Wasted on top :p
Also, it would be really cool to see Makedamnsure in the top10.
Might as well get last week done first.

The FreeWave Weekly
Week Of Tuesday, June 27th, 2006
The FreeWave: Current
Close Calls:
AFI - Miss Murder
Disturbed - Land Of Confusion
Korn - Love Song(Still not confirmed)
Nelly Furtado - Maneater
Panic! At The Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies
Rise Against - Ready To Fall
Slayer - Cult
System Of A Down - Kill Rock 'N Roll
The Roots - Don't Feel Right
Wolfmother - Woman
10) Lostprophets - Rooftops
Seven Weeks | Peak: #1(One Week) | Low: #10 | -1
9) Flyleaf - Fully Alive
Five Weeks | Peak: #9 | Low: #10 | +1
8) Lacuna Coil - Enjoy The Silence
DEBUT
7) Pearl Jam - Life Wasted
Six Weeks | Peak: #2 | Low: #9 | -2
6) Stone Sour - Through Glass
Three Weeks | Peak: #6 | Low: #8 | =
5) Avenged Sevenfold - Seize The Day
Ten Weeks | Peak: #3 | Low: #8 | +3
Stats:
Debut: 4/25/06(#5)
Retirement: 6/27/06(#5)
Lowest Point: #8(6/20/06)
Highest Point: #3(5/2/06)
Most Repeated Position: #5(Three Times)
Points: 57
Thoughts: If you haven't listened to this song yet, listen to the album version because it completely cuts out the ending in the radio version...and the end is arguably the best part in the song.
4) Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down
Two Weeks | Peak: #3 | Low: #4 | -1
3) Gnarls Barkley - Crazy
Ten Weeks | Peak: #1(Two Weeks) | Low: #4 | +1
Stats:
Debut: 4/25/06(#2)
Retirement: 6/27/06(#3)
Lowest Point: #4(6/20/06)
Highest Point: #1(5/9-5/16/06)
Most Repeated Position: #2(Four Times)
Points: 87
Thoughts: For the most part, always the bridesmaid, never the bride. It got to #1 for a few weeks, but it stalled out in the 2-4 area for the rest of its run. Which isn't bad at ALL, but it could have been better. Regardless, this is going to be the Hey Ya! of 2006 and it damn well deserves it.
2) Muse - Knights Of Cydonia
Two Weeks | Peak: #1(One Week) | Low: #2 | -1
1) Tool - Vicarious
Ten Weeks | Peak: #1(Fifth Week) | Low: #4 | +1
Stats:
Debut: 4/25/06(#1)
Retirement: 6/27/06(#1)
Lowest Point: #4(5/23/06)
Highest Point: #1(4/25-5/2/06, 6/6-6/13/06, 6/27/06)
Most Repeated Position: #1(Five Times)
Points: 91
Thoughts: In this day and age of parity and songs debuting near the top or at the top out of nowhere, "Vicarious" was able to get over 90 points. That is a huge accomplishment. Oh, and the fact that half of its time was spent at #1...yeah, that's pretty impressive, too.
The FreeWave: Others
10) Weezer - The World Has Turned And Left Me Here
9) Pearl Jam - Go
8) Gnarls Barkley - Go Go Gadget Gospel
7) Muse - Supermassive Black Hole
6) Rammstein - Te Quiero Puta!
5) Tool - Parabol/Parabola
4) System Of A Down - Know
3) Korn - Open Up(One Week At #1)
2) Thrice - Red Sky
1) Motorhead - Ace Of Spades(4th Week At #1)
I'd like to give a big shout out to Johnny, Steven, Reeces, Nick, laser(and a big thanks for the recommendations!) and Randy for recommending, requesting, commenting and all of that stuff. Well, firstly, STD WAS on and it retired to boot. :-!
I'm not as big on BIBIYD as I was on I Write Sins, but it should at least make the close calls. As for new Audioslave, haven't heard it, haven't even heard a clip of it. Oi.

Back once again to rock the world, even if it is a day early, The FreeWave Countdowns are ready to kick your ass all over again. The Others countdown is just as crazy as you remember it, but there is actually now a consistent top two battle! Look below to find out what i'm talking about...

Chain chain chaaaaiiiin. Chain chain chaaaaiiiiiiiin.
...ahem, anyway, I decided to go through with the real deal this week because two of my favorite songs of this year are retiring this week! Not only that, but there are two debuts and a shocking jump up the countdown by another song. And, oh yeah, The Others have returned.

Retirement: 8/21/06(#2)
Lowest Point: #4(6/27/06)
Highest Point: #1(7/24/06)
Most Repeated: #2(Five Times)
Points: 86
Notes: This and the #1 song are almost guaranteed to be in my top ten at the end of the year and i'm truly happy and grateful to have heard this gem from the late, great Johnny Cash. Catchy as hell and also very moving, "God's Gonna Cut You Down" does two things at the same time that most artists could never pull of. In essence, this song sums up the greatness of Johnny Cash in one 2 minute 38 second track.
[1] Muse - Knights Of Cydonia
Ten Weeks | Peak: #1(Seven Weeks) | Low: #2 | =
Muse - Knights Of Cydonia
Debut: 6/20/06(#1)
Retirement: 8/21/06(#1)
Lowest Point: #2(6/27; 7/24-7/31/06)
Peak: #1(6/20; 7/4-7/17; 8/7-8/21/06)
Most Repeated: #1(Seven Times)
Points: 97
Notes: It should come as no surprise to you guys by now that I absolutely adore this song. What might surprise you is that this is barely one of my three favorite tracks from Muse's album Black Holes And Revelations. One is obvious(hello, look at the Others!) and the other one may not be("Map Of The Problematique"). If either of those tracks made it onto the Current(and "Starlight" is looking REALLLY likely now)...well, they might even do better than "Knights" did. Keep in mind that "Knights" only went below the #1 spot three times(and all three times, they were at #2!), so yeah, just think about that piece of info for a minute.
And, fittingly, Muse and Cash go out 1-2.
The FreeWave: Others:
10) Madonna - Like A Prayer
9) Fiona Apple - Across The Universe
7) Korn - Freak On A Leash
6) Candiria - Down
5) The Smashing Pumpkins - The Everlasting Gaze
4) Slayer - Jihad
3) Motorhead - (We Are) The Road Crew
2) Coheed & Cambria - Welcome Home
1) Muse - Starlight(5th Week At #1)
A big thanks to Mr. Dang Varmint, Johnny, MC Steven, that crazy CyborG and EJ for doing the things you guys do. Next week, an actual #1 battle on the Current will occur...and that Coheed & Cambria band have a new song out which should do well. Check back next week and see how well it does in its opening week.
Until then, peace out homies.

Yep, i'm back again to give you more of the same awesome music countdowns that you have come to expect from yours truly. This week features a lot of movers and shakers, with the Current featuring FOUR debuts and, of course, a brand new #1. The Others has also changed dramatically and, shockingly, Muse is no longer #1 there! Look below to see what song finally took it out...

Notes: It shared the countdown with two of the most well performing songs on a weekly countdown that i've ever done and STILL came away with a ton of points. Barring a miracle, this song is going to make my year-end top 10. With other competition, I think "The Pot" would have done better. But hey, it still did great. :p

Nelly Furtado should be higher and you know it Ryan! Same goes for Gnarls.
I'll give you $5 if you at least let Lupe Fiasco almost make it on ;)
MC Steven 9/4/2006, 11:25 PM Not a problem with that top 10...PURE CLASS!
Once again, everything except for Motörhead. Such a marvelous piece of work. :-$
And your Others countdown is looking even better!
I Got Soul 9/7/2006, 12:38 PM AFI Kasabian and Evanescence get mad big ups.
I'd suggest: Billy Talent "Red Flag".
And did you ever end up hearing my Broken Social Scene recommend?
I'm telling you, that song is all you. The Arcade Fire of this year (even though they've been cool forever now)
Dr. Spaceman 9/10/2006, 1:42 AM I'll give you $5 if you at least let Lupe Fiasco almost make it on ;)

Notes: Part of the reason Politics didn't perform as well as, say, the usual Korn performance, is because "Politics" is one of my least favorite songs from See You On The Other Side. Yes, at first, I was bitter that "Love Song" and "Open Up" were not pegged as a single, yet "Politics" was. However, that was not a factor in the overall performance of the song on the Current. Fact of the matter is, it's not one of my favorite Korn songs and it faced stiff competition. But I still like the song and it deserved to retire.

There's no taking away from the song itself, which is great, but the competition around it was fierce. Still, a retired song is a retired song.

Alright, that's it for the updates. Next week, Army Of Anyone retires on the Current! See you then.
MC Steven 10/12/2006, 1:20 PM I finally heard "The Wolf Is Loose" the other day...pure greatness.
WOOT! for such great music!
The FreeWave: Love my chicken at Ryan's! :-$
Gots ta hear the U2 & Green Day collaboration. Besides that, 11/15. :p
faint_lpc 10/12/2006, 10:57 PM actually I only know some songs of your countdown, but: 4/10 ^__^
I hope Martyr debuts :D
I Got Soul 10/12/2006, 11:05 PM Outstanding debut for Muse. I really hope Audioslave makes it on soon.
Ch-ch-check Canadian music out:
Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton - Doctor Blind
Alexisonfire - This Could Be Anywhere In The World
The FreeWave is, once again, here to give you guys a glimpse of just what good music really is. ;) On this week's Current, a *little* less crazy movement this week, but there's another debut that could shake up the countdown as well as the usual suspects trying to take Muse out of #1. There's also a brand new #1 on the Others, as well as three other songs by the same artist. If you don't know who it is by now, well...just look below and find out!

Notes: This song came along at the exact right time for multiple reasons, the most notable being something that i'm still reeling over and it's been two months since it happened. I'm not really at will to discuss what actually happened, at least not here, but all i'm going to say is that this song came along just as that was going on and it describes how I have been feeling for two months. It may not have had the success it did without my personal life getting in the way, but it's still a damn good song either way and i'm sure that, when I look back, i'll be happy that this song retired.

A big thank you to MC Steven, Johnny, JC and Roger for hitting me up with your comments/recommendations/etc. By the way, Roger, "Doctor Blind" was #16 on the Current. It missed by *that* much. ;) No retirements next week on the Current, but i'm sure there'll be some more chocolaty goodness for all as Muse tries to hold onto #1. Until then, POW.

I Got Soul 10/22/2006, 11:15 PM Wow I'm impressed you actually took some time to consider "Doctor Blind".
Muse #1 is all I can really say. It's great to say.

Most Repeated: I'll get back to you
Points: 66
Notes: The first single from the Deftones was also a damn good one. It faced way too much competition to get to the #1 spot, especiall near the end when "Nausea" and "Starlight" would dominate the top 2. However, it still held its own and is a very deserving retiree.

Most Repeated: #2(8/28-9/4/06, 10/9/06, 10/30/06), #1(see above)
Points: 92
Notes: One of the best performing and most dominating songs in the history of any of my countdowns. It faced practically no competion during its four week run at #1 and the only reason it didn't finish out its run at the top is because this little band named Muse got in the way. A shoo-in for my year-end top ten.

A big thanks to Blowjob...I mean, Blanket Jackson, Chuck and the block rockin' beats man, MC Steven, for commenting and what have you. Next week, no retirements...but a lot of fun? Well, Nas will almost certainly debut next week with, in my opinion, the rap song of the year. Until then, this countdown has been paid for by Mr. FreeWave.
I Got Soul 11/3/2006, 3:36 PM Awesome to see "Starlight" still #1. Truly deserving
I'm also enjoying the TV on the Radio, Evanescence, 30STM, Depeche, and Audioslave love.
Hmm.. recommendations..
Razorlight - America
THE KOOKS - OOH LA <<< a must have
Kasabian - Shoot The Runner
but the one song I KNOW you will like:
kOs - Sunday Morning
honestly, that one better debut next week.
MC Steven 11/4/2006, 7:34 PM Not a single song in the top 10 that I dont like. Nothing else to say but WOOT!
Pretty much all of those Close Calls need to make it on, especially P.O.D. & Mode.
12/15, and glad to see Deftones & Beck retire. WAH-OOOOOOOOOO.
The top ten is excellent...well, except for two.
May I suggest?:
Placebo - Meds, Saosin - voices, Silversun Pickups - Lazy eyes, RHCp - Snow and
MCR - Famous Last world.
I'm back, once again, to give you more countdown goodness. This week...well, no retirements, but there are three songs on this week's Current that weren't on last week. One made a HUGE dent! Was it enough to take out Muse? Also, on the Others, another brand new #1. Just go on and check out the goodness below...

A big thanks goes out to Roger, Block Rockin' Beats Man, Johnald and the MB Master for hitting me up with their comments and stuff. Roger, i'm fairly certain i've heard "America" and I wasn't that impressed by it, maybe i'll check it out again. MB Master, it's so funny, but I have been less than enthralled by the Chili Peppers singles from Stadium Arcadium, they could pick so much better. As for "Meds", it's okay, but not quite good enough to make the Current as of yet. I'll try to check out the rest of the recommendations as soon as possible.
Next week, Muse tries to hold onto #1 with the competition never being this hot for the trio. Until then, vote for Mr. FreeWave this Tuesday at election day. Hey, I can't be any worse than the guys elected into office, right? *thumbs up*
MC Steven 11/6/2006, 11:07 AM I haven't heard new Nas yet...I'm a slacker.
You will get my vote come election day!
only Gone Daddy Gone this time :randy:

Ryan, I reccomend Jay-Z's "Lost Ones" :)

Great stuff buddy.
Welcome back to the countdown that enjoys success in the clutch. This week, on the Current, Muse faces its toughest competition yet and a couple more songs debut! On the others, yes, another brand new #1. But this one faced one song, in particular, that has to be considered tough competition. Are you ready to ch-check it out? MC Steven 11/20/2006, 10:59 PM Damn you Fall Out Boy for making an addictive song!
A perfect 20/20
I Got Soul 11/21/2006, 9:13 AM From the current, I'm digging:
30STM, Jay Z, The Killers, Chris Cornell, Evanescence, TV On The Radio, and Muse.
All mad good. But new FOB? Meh, at least initially.
Props to Gary Jules and the resurgent interest in "Mad World" due to effective commercial use.
Recommends:
Sarah Harmer - Oleander
New ****ographers - Sing Me Spanish Techno
- yay Canada
and one for fun
John Mayer - Bold as Love (brilliant cover on his new album - killer guitar playing)
....but I happen to have some more things to give! The FreeWave countdowns are, of course, the main course. On this week's edition, Mastodon is set to retire on the Current. Could it possibly knock "Starlight" out of numero uno? The Others has more stability than it is accustomed to, but the Current is a little crazier than usual...so just check it out already.

A big after Thanksgiving thank you has to go out to Johnald, Mr. Dang Varmint, Randy(woot), MC Steven and Roger for requesting, recommending, commenting and whatever else it is you guys do. Next week, for the first time in a little while, no retirements on the Current. Can anyone stop "Starlight"? Find out next week. This countdown will self-destruct in five seconds.
Rya, I reccomend Jay-Z - Beach Chair, I think you'd like it :D
 @ Nas being #4
And i'm back yet again.
First of all, I just want to give my own little tribute to the TC 10 in this space. I mean, the TC 10 is one of the longest running countdowns in the history of YTT and it is also one of the best. There will never be another TC 10 and, while I will try to keep up the TC 10 tradition with weekly top tens, there's no way in hell that i'll be able to live up to the TC 10 standard, though I will try.
On this week's FreeWave, on the Current, Muse tries to stay at the top with only two weeks left until retirement, but the competition is hot on the tail of "Starlight". On the Others, "Mad World" gets a brand new challenger to its #1 position. What are you waiting for? Go check it all out below.

Most Repeated: #1(Ten Times)
Points: 100
Notes: I guarantee you, this is the first time in the history of me doing weekly countdowns that a song has run the table and spent all ten of its weeks on the countdown at the top. But i'll be damned if this song doesn't deserve it. This is a shoo-in for #1 on my Top 50 of 2006 and everyone knows that. What some people might not know is that I have probably played this song more than any other this year, possibly even more than Motorhead's "Ace Of Spades". The best song of the year, released off of the best album of the year, coming from the best artist of the year. The triple threat, folks.

Notes: Probably Evanescence's most successful countdown song since "Bring Me To Life" and I think i'll wind up liking this song a lot more in the long run. Had it not been for Muse, Evanescence could have gotten a good three weeks at the top spot before retirement, but the fact is, it was still a very successful song even with some of the most successful songs in weekly countdown history around it.

ugh, why does everybody like that ****** MCR song?
And someone needs to send me Tool stuff, i'm soo out of the loop!
SaMdAmAn477 1/14/2007, 12:26 PM 12/15 Nice to see the others up. Well, it's time to recommend:
Panic! At the Disco "Build God, The We'll Talk" (I doubt you'll like it, but it's worth a shot)
Atreyu "Shameful"
Eighteen Visions "Broken Hearted"
Senses Fail "Can't Be Saved" (Once again, you'll probably hate it, but it's worth a shot)
By the way I think TV On the Radio's next single is "Province", but I'm not 100% sure.
Brand New "Sowing Season"
Now for the others:
Taking Back Sunday "A Decade Under the Influence"
Taking Back Sunday "You're So Last Summer"
Green Day "Longview"
Korn "Good God"
Brand New "Jude Law and a Semester Abroad"
At least check them out, you might like them!

I really don't like it that much, but it's better than "Welcome To The Black Parade", at least.

If "Province" really is the next single, I will be in heaven. I wasn't that impressed by "Broken Hearted". The other songs...well, I haven't heard Panic!, Atreyu(though I should) and Senses Fail(and I bet you're right :p). I've heard that Brand New song but only once. :p
As for the others, i've naturally heard every single song. God knows what kind of Korn fan I would be if I hadn't listened to "Good God" before you recommended it. :-! "Good God" has been an Others contender from day one, same with "Longview".
And by the way, MB, Modest Mouse. Beautiful. And Johnald, Cats. *sniff* :-!

I'm on a huge Rocky fix as of late and this week's Others shows a little bit of a glimpse of Rockymania for yours truly, but the big story is the Current. Two songs are retiring, possible debuts galore and Tool finally has its first real competition since debuting at numero uno. Go on, check it out below, you know you want to.

The Kaiser Chiefs. Ruby. All you really need.
What do you think of the new Arcade Fire? I'm dissapointed relative to how good the singles off 'Funeral' were, but it's still great.
I have "Neon Bible" if anyone wants the .rar just let me know.
Welcome back. This week features the retirement of another Mastodon single as well as a big battle for #1 on the Current. On the Others, GNR and The Reverend get a new contender to fight with them at the top. Just check it all out below, why don't you?

sleepwalker 2/5/2007, 1:13 PM 7/15 on the top
The only things I've heard on the bottom don't like, so... :-/
Although I know a girl who was named after that Led Zepplin song, and while I haven't heard it, she's really cool so let's give that list a solid 100/10!
I Got Soul 2/5/2007, 1:15 PM If Ruby hit #1, that would be pretty rad.
And woot for Korn/Amy. Surprisingly good.
Oh yeah - and Canada what. F11 and TAF kick ass.
SaMdAmAn477 2/5/2007, 3:50 PM 12/15, that Mika song is very interesting.
Rafael. 2/5/2007, 11:06 PM great to see Sweet Sacrifice and Desecration Smile!

Just going to take time to respond to some of the things said in this thread. And yes, I am bored, why do you ask?
Hope you had a great birthday man. Sorry I didn't say it on the day of - but I know you tore it up right for the big 2-0.
Haha, I wish.
What do you think of the new Arcade Fire? I'm dissapointed relative to how good the singles off 'Funeral' were, but it's still great.
"Intervention" is better, in my honest opinion, than any of the singles off of Funeral(except for "Wake Up", if I should count that). I don't really feel "Black Mirror" that much, but i'm sure that will change with time. I mean, I pretty much like every song on Funeral now. :-!
Although I know a girl who was named after that Led Zepplin song, and while I haven't heard it, she's really cool so let's give that list a solid 100/10!
It's one of only two songs i've ever heard that is virtually perfect, so i'd try and check it out, if I were you. :-!
If Ruby hit #1, that would be pretty rad.
At least for the next couple of weeks, I severely doubt that will happen. But you probably knew that already. :p
MC Steven 2/9/2007, 1:11 AM 15/15
I expect Chevelle to debut soon!
SaMdAmAn477 2/9/2007, 5:38 PM Sorry just a reminder that The Killers "Read My Mind" better make this countdown soon, because that song is amazing.

Woo! Another exciting and fun packed edition of Le FreeWave is here. I Got Soul 2/13/2007, 8:16 AM Woot for Incubus.
And nice to see some RHCP, Mika, Korn/Amy, Kaiser prominence.
And the success of Gym Class Heroes is mind blowing on radio/digitals is mind blowing. Good to see it on your chart.
Not because I'm a big fan of the song, but I'm actually really surprised "Read My Mind" isn't on your chart. It just seems like the type of song you'd like, it's got the "Mr Brightside" elements, and it's a big single on Alternative right now.
Oh well, to each his own.
Good show !

Well, the first thing I need to point out is that being a big single on the radio or not doesn't have any influence on this countdown. :-!
Second, I honestly don't really remember the song. I'm sure i'll hear it again shortly. But I wasn't that impressed the first time I heard it. Maybe i'll like it the second time around.
7/the songs that i've listened xD

Fair enough. Although I wasn't implying by any means that radio success correlates to FreeWave success. I just meant that since it gets played a lot on the radio you probably have heard it alot.
And if you dont have an mp3, I'll gladly send one your way - and to anyone else who wants to hear it.

Well, even if there was an Alt Rock station here, I probably wouldn't listen to it. :-!
I'm sure I can find someone who can give me access to the song. No need to ask. ;)
It's time to kick this countdown up a notch with the latest installment of The FreeWave. This week, Tool, Incubus and RHCP continue their three-headed battle at #1 on the Current, while on the Others, there is a brand new #1! Yep, it's COMIN' AT CHA!

EDIT: Oh, and by the way, yes, "Survivalism" did not debut. It might debut next week, but two weeks from now looks more probable. Damn Tool and Incubus retiring at the same time. :p

How kick ass is that Lily Allen song too?
With Incubus and Tool retiring, this means RHCP could grab #1 if NIN doesn't blow it out of the water.
Either/or works for me
Good show.
SaMdAmAn477 2/19/2007, 5:47 PM 13/15, I need to hear new NIN.

Alright guys, time for a major announcement. And yes, believe me, this one IS major. I've decided to change up the thread *a bit*.
The FreeWave, as you guys know it, is dead. Long live The FreeWave. Do not fret, though. The spirit of The FreeWave will live on forever as, every Monday, I will continue to post the FreeWave countdowns, simply as Current and Others. However, they are no longer the focus of this thread.
Because I am ambitious, because I am imaginative, and...well, because i'm ****ing crazy, I am bringing back what brought me to the dance to begin with and made me into a YTT forum legend(hey, come on, I have to have SOME sort of ego, don't I? :p). Yep, that's right, i'm bringing back the dreaded daily countdowns. I know, i'm insane, I was terrible at updating the last daily countdown I did and it died out. It happens to a LOT of my countdowns. But there have been cases where I have done countdowns for a while. I think this might be that kind of countdown. But it's not quite the same as before. You see, instead of going back to the old Hitlist name or keeping the FreeWave name, i've come up with something different altogether. The actual countdowns will be the same, except there will be only three close calls and not five, and they will not be ranked. Oh, and the format...that's kind of different from what i'm used to.
From the ashes of The FreeWave and the ashes of all previous daily countdowns of mine rises the next daily countdown from yours truly...
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e304/TobiasIsGod/BloodRed.jpg
It's Blood. It's Red. It's a countdown. IT'S THE BLOOD RED COUNTDOWN. Woo.
:-$
MC Steven 2/22/2007, 3:19 PM Sad to see The Freewave gone...
But now you have a daily countdown! It all works out for the better.
Alright, this is the first ever BRC. The actual look of the countdown is severely different than anything i've ever done before. Instead of just doing it the way I always have(bare bones and stuff), i've added quite a few different things that will seperate this countdown from the countdowns of old.
A few rules for this countdown(some of these are old standbys, some...not)...
-- Close calls will no longer be five songs and will no longer be ranked, just three songs.
-- There is no voting list. What's on the countdown is on the countdown. There are also no premieres. Very similar to The FreeWave in this aspect.
-- Songs WILL(not will probably, WILL) retire after spending 50 days on.
-- I have a much less strict feeling about having songs on my countdown than most people. All that is required is that it is rumored to be(or is) a single. That's all.
-- Unlike previous countdowns of mine, this will feature a random song recommendation. Please note that these will, MOSTLY, be songs most of you have never heard of. That is why it is being recommended. Duh. :p
-- And, finally, please note that recommendations are ALWAYS welcome. Comments, first and foremost, kick ass to me, but recommendations would help me out big time as well.
With that out of the way, here's the first ever BRC!
EDIT/EDIT #2: The buttons are now as they were intended, awkward or not. So there. I should also mention that this countdown is best viewed on a 1024x768 resolution.

Note that this may not be the permanent look of the BRC. Some things might change, for this is only the first countdown. For now, this is the look.
Here's to The Blood Red Countdown: Where it's blood, it's red and it's a countdown. Booyah.
MC Steven 2/22/2007, 3:54 PM I like the look of the countdown, very different than anything else.
Keep up the great work.
I Got Soul 2/22/2007, 3:59 PM Different that's for sure. Thumbs upski.
On to the countdown - close calls; Mika, and EV. Cool tunes.
Great to see the likes of NIN, Muse, and TVOTR shake up the Tool-Incubus-RHCP domination of late.
I especially like that Lily Allen is up to #7. Alfie kicks ass.
And woot for Kaisers, RHCP, and Korn/Amy Lee still hanging in there.
Don't think there is one song on here that I don't like. Kudos.
I like it. love the new NIN song
Jason, holy crap, you only seem to pop up every second millennium. :-$ Thanks for the comments so far, guys, I appreciate it.
Seriously, if you have an opinion, good or bad, about the new countdown, i'd love to hear it. Especially if you recommend songs to me as well as comment on the new countdown. Then I might just love you. :-!
SaMdAmAn477 2/22/2007, 9:24 PM 9/10 (Lily Allen :-/) I like the new countdown, Ryan, but I really miss the Freewave :-(.

Love the new look, you dirty dog. :p
I've only heard Alfie and The Missing Frame :( but i'm sure Tool, Incubus and RHCP are good so woo for that!
About the new look
I think Office 2007 is the best verson of office ever made :)
