Froggert, you've actually made a salient point! I can totally see Katharine as a Tracy Flick type of person. They were caught off guard. They were convinced America agreed with them and wanted a male Top 2 but they were wrong.

When Simon proclaimed Taylor the winner last night, you knew it wasn't authentic or genuine. He only said that because he knew the damage was done so he wanted to seem like he was still the guy to go for for all the answers OR he was told to do so.

I don't think Katherine would've been able to beat Kelly, Ruben, or Carrie, but I think she would have a shot against Fantasia.
The judges - (Or I should single out Randy and Paula) were biased and not hard enough on contestants like Taylor and Chicken Little this season. At the same time America was judging Taylor by personality and his showmanship rather than his vocal talent. (Which will be a downfall for 19 in the long run, as he cannot sing as well as Katherine or Chris.)

I'm fully aware of Carrie's success at Country radio and with Country fans but she isn't mainstream. Like I said, she's one dimensional. Though I do think she should take another stab at A/C or even Pop radio. I'm convinced she may have a future there.

Carrie's success isn't known to the general public (which tends to be ignorant). Just because someone has sold 3 Million records thanks to the country market, that doesn't mean they have achieved mainstream success. Country isn't the biggest format.

Fantasia was a success in the Urban community as well but she wasn't mainstream. The general public wasn't aware of the success she was having.

And yes, voters should definitely be limited to one or a few votes.

Wow, what a GREAT show tonight. (No Sarcasm) I enjoyed most of it! (Prince was ugly and uneeded, Kelly could've shown) What a way to wrap the season up, even though the worst AI won. (Who isn't so bad...he just can't sing.) Best of luck to them all. Now I don't feel so negative about this season, - but it still bombed. However, I will still uphold my tradition and buy the Winner's alblum or single. :) I'm looking forward to AI2007!

Carrie doesnt even bother trying to be something shes not. Kelly on the other hand always makes an ass out of herself (like the VMAS where she permantely f.ucked her voice) and lets not go there with those gross mohawks, those clothes she wears that couldnt even fit mary kate. I will admit that Carrie is no fashion plate but dear god.

Honestly, you Carrie fans should know that the music Kelly made in her debut album was not the most popular choice to choose, whereas whatever you release on country radio sounds the same every year, every decade, so of course it's a hit or miss shot for Miss Carrie Underwood. I for one love both Carrie and Kelly, so it really doesn't matter to me who sells more. They are two totally different artists and I can't see the comparisons in any way, whatsoever.

Now that Kelly has risen above her American Idol status, she is selling up to 10 million records... You tell me what pop star in today's age can still do that. Carrie has been out for like a day and she already has all these country awards, 3x sales, #1 singles, legend status, radio airplay.

I knew she would be a superstar. Everyone wants a piece of the TRUE American Idol

Kelly had awards within a year she won, 2x sales (Idol DID have less viewers then, I might add), AMTL broke a record for highest jump to #1, carrie hardly has legend status, and most of her singles had some airplay (Miss Independent had quite a bit of airplay, as did AMLT).

But yes, Carrie is awesome too... but Kelly is the "TRUE American Idol" :cool:

I will always be a fan. But I think Carrie is just a little better in the places I mentioned :)

While I agree with (most of) what you said about Carrie being sweet, American, and talented, I think that Kelly has the better voice. When Kelly's voice is rested, and she hasn't been touring for almost a year, Kelly's voice is much better, and even when Kelly has been rocking out Since U Been Gone for so long and her voice can't handle that anymore, she still seems to be able to pull out great performances on her ballads. I do wish she would slow down though (but I would love to see Carrie try to do one of Kelly's rock songs...). Also, I find Kelly and Carrie both very sweet in different ways. Kelly puts a lot more feeling into her music IMO though.

And I'm sure they'll both have very successful careers, and I don't even know why I'm really comparing them, they're two completely different kinds of singers.

Wow, this was just about the worst season ever, with the worst winner imaginable. The guy's fat as hell (FATTER THAN KAT) and can't hold a good note to save his life. I really doubt he'll have any sort of success. The only reason he won is because he's from the South. I doubt they REALLY wanted Taylor to win and will buy his records, they probably just wanted another Southern winner (I read up on this).
