mtvU did an exclusive interview with William Beckett of The Academy Is... about the craziness of the road, music influences and some of the best advice he ever received. Click HERE (http://www2.fanscape.com/mtvu/mtvUhome.aspx) to see William take on The Hot Seat.

The Academy Is... will be performing live on MTV's TRL on January 17th. Make sure you tune in...you may see some very special guests along with them."

This was a myspace bulletin from the band.

Ten bucks says the special guest is Fall Out Boy.

I'm counting down the days already...

Even though it's probably yet another emo band, it's good to see SOME KIND of rock on the countdown, and I bet their video is going to make it on.

This is for one of those breakout band weeks, right? Kinda like when The Used, New Found Glory, etc. performed in 2003? I think there was another one of those as well...

If this is the case, I'm going to take a stab at another band who may be performing that week: Hawthorne Heights.

:-!

Johnny...they are another emo band. :)
But I love them...you probly won't like it...but give them a chance.
Just a hint to everybody...Fall Out Boy got them signed to the label Fueled by Ramen so you kinda guess their sound from that.

Chances are Hawthorne will play that week...and drop their latest video.
Who else would you guys like to see?

Personally, I'd like to see Motion City, Panic! At The Disco, Death Cab, etc

Im guessing Avenged Sevenfold will probably also perform on it

I'm going to take a shot in the dark. Eighteen Visions and From First to Last will follow the footsteps of Avenged Sevenfold, bringing heavier music back to TRL not in the vein of Korn or Marilyn Manson. I mean, if TRL wants to be gay like that and refuse to show Korn and Marilyn Manson on their countdown, then why not start accepting some other heavy-rock bands that are going to be releasing their major-label debuts in 2006? I'm sure The Academy Is... aren't nearly as heavy as EV and FFTL, but a lot of people pigenhold those groups in the emo category and that seems to be what TRL's eating up recently.

AFI will also be big on TRL next year. Mark my words.

It's because of some articles I read about From First to Last and Eighteen Visions on MTV's website. Something tells me that it could happen.

Doesnt MTV have another spankin new music week in January (like Spankin New Presents: On The Rise or something like that), or was that covered in November with the "Now & Next", theme

The Academy Is are incredible.
Shame I won't be able to check this out.

And I wouldn't be surprised if they premiere "Checkmarks", although "Slow Down" was voted to be their next single.

They are incredible for sure
I wasnt sure either about the single, i was just assuming it would be checkmarks since it was the first released. But i do think "slow down" will work better for the little girl audience because of the lyrics

they are supposed to appear with a special guest. My guess is pete wentz because he helps run fueled by ramen records, and would be a good guest to have on since that audience knows him.

I don't see where your coming up with "little girls", the majority of their audience at Warped were guys my age?

I think they're a bit less "pre-teen girl" audience than MCR and FOB.
