The role for Effie in Dreamgirls slated to be released in December has finally been cast. A nation wide search for the perfect Effie White has finally been found. Casting calls for this much sought after role has been held in numerous cities, calling for all body types and a powerful voice. After months of auditions, there emerged ONE winner. The lucky female to snag the ever so prominent role is none other than Chicago native Jennifer "Boomie" Hudson(who's early departure from American Idol season 3 sparked a huge controversy and sparked rumors of racism).

After countless casting calls, Jennifer emerged as the victor even beating out American Idol winner/alum Fantasia Barrino.

that's good to know then. well, then fantasia never really was in the running right? since she's relatively skinny (cept for her hips)

Well the original role wasnt for someont to be fat but like alittle overweighr. But Jennifer was SO GREAT that they hired her despite her weight. And now she has set a standard for the role.
